New Player Having Trouble Figuring Out A DW Poison/Acid Gunslinger

As the title suggests, I’m having some difficulty in figuring out how I should approach this build.

Occultist seems like a given, but I’m having the hardest time sorting out what would make a great complimentary primary skill, as well as a second class.

I initially thought that Soldier/Occultist would be a good combo, but really, I just don’t know what skills to base it on.

Any help would be seriously appreciated!

Well the only masteries that really support poison acid are nb and occu.

You could use soldier and arcanist for support skills and passives.

For main skills probably either ABB from nb or FS from demo, FS doesn’t really have any poison or acid damage but gives you a lot flat magical damage as well as some weapon damage and aoe.

But it certainly is a difficult task you took on there, especially for a new player without stashes full of gear and components^^

Maybe others can think of a more straightforward playstyle. Do you have an item for dual wielding pistols already?

There isn’t much gear to support Dual Wield Gunslinger Acid/Poison currently sadly. Hopefully the expansion can add some more items to support it.

Well shoot, I hadn’t realized that it would be such a stretch to make it work. I do have the relic to allow for DW, but now I’m just not sure.

Would going rifle or shotgun make things any easier?

With no poison/acid on FS, I’d pretty much be forced to go ABB, so… maybe NB and Soldier(?) for passives?

I realize that I’m making this difficult for myself, but I do appreciate the input!

Cadence is an option, it multiplies all damage not just physical. Also, check out http://www.grimtools.com/db/items/2500 for a 2h acid crossbow that’s pretty sweet. I think Chthon made a ranged acid build a while back, I’ll try to find it and update this post if I can.

As far as primary abilities go, The best way I see to use Poision/Acid is to transmute Dreegs Eye and use it as default. It then has a long cooldown and It will work just like cadence but with a splash instead of a pass through. Use Vitriolic Gallstones on one of your weapons, Mark of Dreeg on the other. Gallstones will give you an envenom weapons ability for more poison/acid output damage. Since there is not a lot of other poison acid support skillwise, take whatever you want as your secondary. If you take night blade it won’t boost your poison/acid a whole lot except for a bonus from merciless repertoire, given the lack of options id take it, or the more offensive defensive passives in soldier. There are at least two poison handguns that will boost your occult skills later. Dreeg’s Blood also is a given.

That seems to be THE poision/acid build other than nightblade, it is just hidden in augments rather than being on the occultist skill page. Maybe others have a different approach but do the above and I think you have stacked just about every bit of poison into your weapon attack that the game allows, not including affinities and other % modifiers from armor.

Occultist/Nightblade aka Witch Hunter is probably my favourite character but as for DW guns with this you really don’t need them. Use the transmuter on Pneumatic burst to get DW melee or go one weapon and an off-hand. But whether you decide on acid/poison (which has always been good) or bloody pox (which has recently become awesome) you can be a very capable caster and still be effective when close combat is needed. Big tip: look for “attack damage converted to health,” on gear and devotions as these will help your character enormously. Whatever way you go, Good luck

For Pistols I’d say Cadence is the bettor option since Pistols don’t seem strong enough to me, Empowered Mutiny is the best pistol iirc for Acid i mean
