New terrain feature - streams

Adding in streams would be a great way to add some beauty and nuance to maps. They could increase fertility and irrigation bonus for a few tiles around each stream tile - which could be increased based on stream width.

Streams would not alter pathing, they’re really there just for eye candy + fertility and water access, and would need to support having walls and roads seamlessly built over them.

Could also be interesting if there was a terraforming tool introduced to reroute streams so we could do interesting things like have a stream circle our fields for maximizing fertility, or even have it run through our towns in a straight line for some extra scenery.

I wonder whether or not this would suffer from the same limitations, provided it was only limited to a terrain generation feature and did not impact pathing and was otherwise not interactable, as the older boats/bridges/canals suggestions were.

I really like the idea of this, Lakes, streams and rivers bring fertility and life

Wont happen lol everytime some one asks they cut and past that, even gave them a work around’s for bridges,. No streams., shame. good game tho,. even if i dont play anymore,

Streams, should not be affected by this limitation, since it is not a navigable thing, it would be more a of eye candy stuff added to terrain (like a road), they can be crossed by walking over.

On that front, roads can be build and the stream can stream over the dirt road, and maybe add a little kind of small stone bridge, they can stay at 1 tile wide and either we have pre generated streams or we dig them out from, we could terraform them and cover them up too.

If we build them (Tier 3+), then we can create them the same way roads work, each tile would contribute a little to terrain irrigation and they should be sourced by lake or a special windmill pump well that would pour some water.

Also they could be upgrade in upcoming Tier 5 to stone water ways, adding some extra desirability to town, if built close houses.

Just keep the darn thing 1x1 tile, build like roads are built and put some stupid water texture on it and stop the excuse of “docks/bridges, water gameplay is actually a lot more complicated than you’d think in our setup”. It is starting to sound old and bleak, we are not asking for naval warfare here.
