I’m pleased that my toon (lvl 22) is holding her own in Veteran, just finished Act 1. Going into it I realized savagery would be lacking some meaningful AoE, but I am unsure how to add that component.
I currently have 6 Devotion points accumulated. What should I be aiming at assuming I’m going for a phys/lightning build?
Both Physical and Lightning are good routes for a Warder. You can go either with a decent two hander. I’d say it depends on your gear regarding which route you want to take.
For leveling, Primal Strike might actually be better for you than Savagery, assuming you’re going 2h. As for helping plan your devotions, there are some things I need to know first. Are you actually going 2h? Are you aiming for Ultos’ set as BiS gear?
EDIT: Because you’re honestly still really early in the game you have lots of room to experiment, believe it or not. Take advantage of that, because once you hit Elite, you will start to find yourself being forced to choose a more definite path. Basically, real spec work begins at/after level 50.
I am 2H, and I’m trying to stack lightning. I did read, as you said, that Primal Strike is more efficient at leveling and carries a good AoE, but I guess I’m stubborn in wanting to use the same LMB attack my whole way through. I’m really facing issues with incoming damage. My totem doesn’t have enough pts to be noticeably useful and it doesn’t seem like Feral Hunger is proccing/stealing enough at the point to top me off.
I feel like I’m in the doldrums right now until I put some more levels under my belt.
I am essentially new to this game, so I’ve poked around the web for discussions on gear and devotion, but I do not have any particular end-game gear in mind. I just liked the idea of the Warder but, at the moment, I’m doing nothing more that LMB. Hopefully it becomes a little bit more active as I unlock things.
Well, for devotions you will want to plan towards Kraken, for sure. Tempest constellation is probably a good pick, and Widow would probably be a solid pick as well. For lightning, your choices for tier 3 constellations to build towards aren’t exactly fantastic - Spear of the Heavens is alright, but hardly fantastic. With all the Primordial affinity you’re probably going to be racking up, though, Tree of Life might be doable, and Tree is a fantastic defensive constellation. The trouble might be that you will be strapped for affinity due to the Eldritch costs on Widow and Kraken mandating a minimum of 6 Eldritch, and the 5 Ascendant cost on Tempest. Doing some juggling now to see if I can get those reqs met AND get the Order affinity req’d to get Tree.
Basically, I went like this: Point in Eldritch Crossroads, take Spider, drop Eldritch Crossroads. Point in Primordial Crossroads, take Eel, drop Primordial Crossroads. Point in Ascendant Crossroads, take Empty Throne, drop Ascendant Crossroads. Take Kraken, Tempest and Widow. Take Raven, drop Spider entirely. Point in Order Crossroads, take Lion, drop Order Crossroads. Take Tortoise and Panther. Take Lizard. Then take Tree of Life. The good? Decent amount of defensive goodies. Offers the almighty resist reduction capability. The bad? You might find yourself wishing you had the damage bonuses from Spear, idk.
