Just started the game not very long… this has been my first time looking at the forums…
I’m astounded by characters with 10K+ hp… even caster classes.
How on earth could they manage that? I understand the soldier mastery has a skill which adds %physique and %HP but what about classes that don’t have soldier mastery?
At lvl 85 using all purple/blue items, and putting all stat points in physique, my warlock is only at ~5.5K. I clear the game somewhat fine (abusing arcanist’s mirror skill with aeon’s hourglass to get 6 sec invulnerability) but bosses like SharZul just one shot me (although I was able to kite him but killing him takes forever and at one time or another I’m bound to slip and get hit either by himself or by his fire rings), or other bosses like the Aetherial nemesis just perma stun me so that I can’t get my combo going. I’ve been trying to finish Anastheria’s final quest on ultimate for a mythical relic blueprint.
Any advice is appreciated! All my resists (except physical, freeze, slow and stun) are all maxed at 80 (with Dreeg’s blood poison is maxed) but even maxed resists don’t help against some bosses.
all points in physique, max one mastery bar, have another 2/3 up or maxed as well, max the extra life-giving skills. I’m astonished you managed to somehow only reach 5.5k.
edit: you usually also get a hefty chunk of either % of flat health bonus through devotions.
Well my devotions are:
Imp, Widow, Jackal, Witchblade, Fiend, Eel, Aeon’s hourglass, Spear of the heavens, and 2 leftover points in Dying God… off the top of my head.
I don’t see much +HP or +%HP going on there… even if I swap my components for the +3%HP one it’s not that much (and I don’t want to give up resists)… both Arcanist and Occultist masteries seem to give extremely little HP. I’m thinking probably other people have a lot of +flat HP… as +%HP doesn’t do much for me… I can crank it up to early 6K+ or so at most.
Maybe there’s a purple item or two which I haven’t found which gives +800-1000HP in one piece or something?
Warlock is probably the class combination with the lowest HP from masteries, that + the lack of flat health on gear is probably the reason why your HP are so low. You should try swapping some of your gear pieces with good green items that have flat health + resists on them, they are hard to get though.
Your devotion setup doesn’t make sense to me, you went for both +%aether and +%chaos? wtf? What do you use for damage, a Tainted Ray with Doom Bolt with incomplete chaos to aether conversion?
At the very least you had the option to go behemoth, and Lion -> 4 points in Targo, which alone should’ve pushed your HP up to 6k. Also you probably should’ve used Legplates of Valor (+450 to +550 hp and 1200 armor) since your physique is over 1k probably. You also should had used mutates scales in legs and shoulders if you can cover resistances some other way. Even if it’s a squishy Warlock it’s very possible to get your HP up to at least 8-9k.
As for legendaries - no, there are no legendaries with 900-1000 hp. There are some with 500-600 HP that can easily be best in slot, like Golemborn Greaves.
Also if your main damage type is actually chaos then Possession + Maiven Sphere offer an additional degree of protection, capable of pushing your effective hp up to 10k+.
Well I had lots of aether/chaos items…
I’m using Agrivix’s relic, codex of lies and essence of the grim dawn.
I respec my ray to either aether or chaos depending on which area I’m going to clear (just 25 iron bits) both aether and chaos are effective depending on which act I’m in. I also have devastation and doom bolt maxed out; basically I throw on mirror, devastation, then doom bolt twice (which is 100% time dilation trigger and this helps mirror CD a lot) channel my ray, mirror again and devastation again. This takes down most if not all heroes, but bosses seem to be tougher.
hmm I think I just might have golem greaves (but if I remember it’s a solider item) somewhere in my stash… Legplates of valor I could probably get from a friend.
so people playing warlock have been getting +flat HP items and Order devotions… I see (never occurred to me to get those since they seem very soldier-oriented bonuses) and using solider +skill items…
Switching between aether ray and tainted ray is nice in concept, but as a result your devotions are not very optimal, you end up going for both +%aether and +%chaos, and one of the two is unused half of the time.
People usually don’t play Warlock. Somewhat wonky class.
Also, just checked - Golemborn is around +400 hp, but still sounds like a good deal. I hope you do use Mark of Mogdrogen for your boots?
EDIT: and you can craft the +10%health potion for really tough fights.
There is one! Iskandra’s Vestaments is a relevant item for a warlock potentially and it has like 800 base hp, pretty sure I have a pair with damn near 1k hp
