Well given how most of the gods we have seen (in avatar form) are humanoid, I expect Chthon looked like that too, or at least that is how his constellation depicts him.
As for Korvaak and Empyrion, yeah they are two different beings. But the latter seems to have abandoned the world as much as most other gods did.
