Nightblade regen build?

I’m playing a regen based warder, and well… it’s a bit one note. Hit enemy with big stick, move on. It’s fairly unkillable though, so I was wondering… is there any way to make a Nightblade+x able to survive fairly passively like the Warden does? I’m not saying no buttons to hit, but not too many, anyway

Yes, every nightblade build can do that. Just get the regen devotions, and put corpse dust on everything.

Here’s my witch hunter from a while ago: Witch Hunter, Level 100 (GD 1.2.1.6) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator

Cool, thanks. Wasn’t sure if Nightblade’s inherent squishiness would overwhelm regen from other sources.

Nightblade is decent for regen because the class has inherent regen in the form of Pneumatic Breath. It’s not the strongest regen boosting skill, but it certainly helps.

For lots of regen the obvious choice would be a Trickster using Savagery. Not necessarily the best choice nowadays, but certainly possible. (A few patches ago such a character using the Korba set led the community top 20 build list.)

Besides regen, druid also adds a lot of flat health, and works well for cold or vit or bleed damage, which is 60% of the damage types supported by nightblade.

You don’t need to dual wield or use savagery either, you can do all kinds of combos with Trickster. I’ve tried bleed melee, vitality phantasmal blades, normal melee, Shadow Strike, some weird ABB spam build… not all of them worked well, but there are lots of skills to experiment with.

Blademaster kind of works (soldier offers nice regen, but the best skills don’t work with dual wield, requiring shield or two-handed weapons.)

Witch hunter was already mentioned, though it’s generally pretty squishy.

Saboteur works better than you’d think, considering Demolistionist is all about fire and lightning damage, and nightblade more about cold, pierce, acid, and vit. But the class has a lot of item support. The old top 20 had 3 different melee Saboteurs in it. Those did not build for regen, but I tried one that did and it works pretty well.

It has to be said though, that if you’re playing an Avenger Warden or something currently, there’s very little in the game that comes close to that level of regen and passive tankyness. The ones that do don’t really do so through regen. (retal builds and whatnot, builds that stack passive life steal through devotions/summons/procs/etc.)

I like regen characters a lot, and it’s amazing when levelling, but in end-game content the added value drops a lot, and the opportunity cost is high. (You need specific gear/devotions/skills/components to support it.) Still, I do put it on all kinds of characters that I probably shouldn’t.

AAR builds? I have one with the veilkeeper set :stuck_out_tongue:

Yep, I have an AAR regen druid as well. Not the strongest AAR build by a long shot, but I like it a lot.

I also have a vitality vire’s might archon with regen despite already having pretty huge lifesteal. And I tried a regen blitz warlord at some point, though that one didn’t work out. (Terrible damage.)
