No information for some rebuilt houses

Almost all my houses were destroyed in a raid, Large Houses if it matters. I clicked the button to rebuild all destroyed houses and that worked fine. All the houses were eventually rebuilt. But for some of the houses when I click on them the information panel showing who lives there etc doesn’t come up. Happens for maybe 8-10 houses, the rest are good. They seem to be clustered in one area. I used the Manage Buildings tool to salvage one and placed a new one in that spot; it works normally. Here’s a screenshot showing I clicked on a house and except for the yellow outline nothing else happened. Ignore the dead bodies they were collateral damage lol.

All the houses you see (plus many many more) were rebuilt the same way. The house directly to the left works, the one to the right doesn’t.

Do you have a save before they were rebuilt?

Does the issue repro if you reload?

Unfortunately no save before they were rebuilt, the raid was a long time ago. Houses were collapsing due to no maintenance and I happened to notice some houses weren’t deteriorating. Clicked on one to see if it was occupied and that’s when I discovered this problem.

Reloading the game doesn’t fix it. It’s almost like the rebuild process lost track of what kind of building it is. If it helps, the raiders destroyed 157 out of my 158 houses and I clicked the button the rebuild all buildings. You can see from the minimap I build my town in distinct parts and all the affected houses are in the northeaster area of the southeast section.

Could you please upload that save?

Saves are located in:

C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\Saved Games\Farthest Frontier\Save

Zip up the entire TownName_###### folder along with the .map file and .sav that reproduces the issue. If the files are too big, you can use a service such as Google Drive to share it with us.

Thanks!

Zip file is too big to upload. I’ll need help sharing it on google drive, I never did this before.

Sure, can you email [email protected] and mention this thread. We will provide an upload link.

Just noticed something that may be useful information. I clicked on one of those houses and a villager lit up, apparently a resident of the house. So maybe it’s actually functioning correctly. Is it possible the popup for the house is simply misplaced, like the coordinates for where it’s supposed to display puts it off the visible edge of the screen? Just speculating here.

BTW if I use the manage buildings tool for shelters, and select the houses, the rebuild button works correctly. Meaning at least that recognizes they are shelters.

What made me think of that is when I click on the resident for one of these houses, the popup for that person gets placed in a strange way in the lower right corner. Maybe the popup for the house is positioned badly.

This is a really good find.

It was some kind of edge case where a house was in a work-disabled state (on fire, condemned, or something … not 100% sure which) when it was destroyed … which would persist the work-disabled state. And because of that, when you selected the house to show the UI, it would hop over the first case of work being enabled and hit the next case where there was a bug that would assume that the building had a workers component (houses don’t have them) and it was bailing out before the UI would be displayed. So a couple of different things lead to it.

In any event, the next patch should fix and prevent it. In the meantime, I’ll send you a link to a .sav file with the offending houses fixed.

Glad I reported it  I am a retired programmer (old school COBOL in mostly financial applications) and know how satisfying it is to track down the root cause of a problem and come up with the fix. Like we used to say … it’s not a bug its an unintended feature lol
