Has anyone found a use for non-transmuted BWC? I mean, being able to spam an ability sounds good in theory but the problem is that the main appeal of BWC is the burn damage, which doesn’t stack with itself (and I think that the fire damage and the chaos damage don’t stack neither). The transmuter, on the other hand, amplifies the damage and the area of effect and gives you a sweet damage reduction debuff. The cooldown is not a big deal and with cdr and some points in the skill you can keep burning enemies constantly. In short, I see no use at not picking the transmuter, so I’d suggest to turn the skill in the transmuted version by default and use the transmute option for other thing (maybe aether+lighting conversion?). What do you think?
My melee two hand purifier uses it, one point added to the main skill, nothing else but the transmuter and it actually does a good job, 14/12 is the level. I imagine it being super good on DoT characters, maybe even without the transmuter. Trauma (Beronath), Vitality etc could work well with it. You can build around it fairly nicely. https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/skill-modifiers/1148
I think it has it’s uses:) Like all fire builds it needs other devo/gear procs as well to achieve max effectiveness and other spells, in this case ignition.
The chaos and fire damage will tick from all sources of bwc, only the burn doesn’t stack.
Personally I use it all the time, tho I also use transmuted a lot also.
Just depends on what I’m in the mood for.
They stack. And that’s the point of the spam version.
It’s far inferior to the transmuted Burn version, but every few patches I remake a Fire Spammy BWC and have a great time. One of my favorite builds.
Fluff say untransmuted is good on Purifier, but I dunno, I see no reason to use it w/o transmuter on any build.
To beat the transmuter you need to drop at least 5 of BWC in one place. Its hard. Once you reach 49% CDR its impossible to beat transmuted BWC dmg-vise.
Oh, I was dubious about the fire/chaos stacking. If that is the case then the skill might be more useful than I thought.
From what I know, the Fire/Chaos damage does stack just like multiple Sigils stack their damage when they are placed over each other.
I think Darius uses a similar skill to spam BWC as well that deals Aether (and I think % reduced health) that starts small but quickly ramps up in damage if you don’t move.
made a video, a shitty quality video, but idk waht more than that can be done to prove it.
It’s not a lot less powerful than it was in vanilla. That slight loss in power is complemented by petter procs, gear and in purifier case, better supporting skills. Also with the extra duration MI and no lag you can riddle th map with fire now
I’ve already done this on another thread so i’ll stop here. I’m guessing people want Bwc spam to be 'nade spam with big dots
I will try again once the patch is out. Playing aether BWC right now with Clairvoayant set and it feel good
Mind sharing your build? I just had the idea earlier today to bind Aetherfire (Imp) to spammy Aether BWC for some theoretically-good times.
One thing I’m noticing though is that there are basically no skillmods on gear that give BWC Flat Damage without also converting some of its base damage. I find this really unfortunate and a grave oversight.
I use spam BWC with the predictable setup. Mythical Herald of the blazing ends, mythical infernal nights set and Zarthuzelan codex. Dryad being a must have constellation because I went Purifier not Sorceror. It’s pretty bloody strong.
I also took Fissure but it’s a no brainer on BWC builds. For caster based builds it definitely has a place in the game. I only use the transmuter on tank builds.
Bah, sorc aether is for babies.
If I am still in the mood much later, I was thinking to try Pyro in something Aether-> Bwc-ish to test a bunch of the aether procs. You can get 100% fire+choas -> aether and near 2k % aether bonus. It’s possible to do a DW pistol with dual Darkblaze (lol), or DW melee with warpfire/mindwarp
But it has almost no RR compared to the tons available for elemental stuff or sorc… and will suffer for lack of bonuses usable on the equipment.
It would be nice to see some more exotic various RR to demo stuff, than just the basic fire/lit.
Imp bound to Canister for maximum fps drop
With time dilation, that would be certain to end my potato of a laptop.
Well, this was an interesting discussion. I figured non-transmuted BWC all wrong. Thanks for your opinions, guys!

I had 2 Commandos with it.

I think Fire/Burn BWC was better for me
When you do a comparison, do you take into account the value of time freed up? e.g transmute the BWC and use stormfire from seal of destruction as spam ability instead? Seems like with transmute and stormfire approach you would get best of both worlds, spam skill + maximised burn dot from bwc (also devotion proc rate of bwc scales and remains great despite cd)?
Also for non-purifier you get physical damage reduction debuff from transmuted version. I can see how thematically its fun to set the world on fire but the untransmuted skill doesn’t seem appealing beyond that.
Heres a build similar to what you suggested first… http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75321
