I’ve just found out bout this game 2 days ago and need some help to “decide” on a class or better said to discuss wether my Charbuild is even possible.
I’ve been looking for a build that:
got some kind of weapon enchantment
got good AOE Skills
is fighting melee but has some magic up his sleeve (e.g. debuffs)
got some kind of healing abilitys
Is either fighting with a 2-handed sword/axe or a 1-handed sword/ace + some kind of magic caster item in his off hand (no shields)
Doesn’t need another build to level just to rebuild at lvl 85…
So I’ve came up with Witch Hunter…
Witchfire Enchantmant
Blade Burst + Sigil
Curse of Frailty
Sigil + Blood of Dreeg
?
?
How would you build that kinda char?
I’m totally lost with the options, especially in the nightblade tree, I kinda think a vitality + chaos + frost dmg char might be bad cuz you’re spreading your damage pool to wideley instead of focusing on one dmg source (or is it different in this game?)
Is it possible to farm endgame with such kinda char or only “meta builds” are viable?
Hope some can help me, thx alot
I’m open for other Builds (different combination) I just got that kinda char in my mind I wanna play, I actually don’t care about the combination
I’ve used my time, trying out all classes in the DLC Arena and the kits I appear to like the most are:
Nightblade
Soldier
and Occultist.
I’ve watched alot of Videos and really don’t like that ultra flashy characters spamming spells all round (didn’t like those in PoE either).
I’d really like a pretty defensive “Dark Knight”, I assume Soldier/Occultist might be the right choice for that, focusing on physical/vitality damage, either using a 2-handed weapon (preferably sword) or 1-handed weapon + shield, but I got no clue on what talents to focus.
Anyone got some advice (maybe some raw insight with grimcalc) on what Talents I should focus, what are good skill synergies between Soldier/Occultist?
What skills should I learn for single target damage and aoe damage?
Does the -% max health on enemy from pox and battlecry stack or should I focus on one of those?
Or would a Nightblade/Occultist focusing on Physique the better choice?
Thx in advance again, I’ll keep on trying out those characters on crucible to test out more stuff before I start playing the real game
Go for this build.
Max Pneumatic Burst (+ point to the transmuter)to run around fast and heal and dual weild: Assign it to Hotkey 2(1 being your health potion). Spam 2 every ~30 seconds. The skill has 5 second cooldown so if you are close to dying, reuse it for burst heal.
Get a point in Shadow Strike. Assign it to your right click and use it at mobs at the edge of your screen.
Get amarantha’s Blade burst and assign it on your left click.
Get Blood of dreeg (from occultist) and assign it to 3. Spam it along with Pneumatic Burst.
And faceroll the game in normal/veteran. Later on (i’d say after act2 elite) get Curse of Fraitly from Occultist. Jaggermaister’s build gave me over 30 hours of fun when I was about to quit the game due to losing my most loved character to a buggy item editor.
Heaviest pro of this build: It’s the fastest moving/map exploring toon I’ve seen in Grim dawn. Try to get (empowered) Boots of Unseeing swiftness too, with Mark of Traveller component on them. It’s a level 25 epic (and the empowered version is level 50) that drops quite a lot, which gives the highest movespeed in the game (takes some of it away for 3 secs whenever you get hit by damage tho) and mark of traveller is the best movespeed componnent in game. The above + maxed pneumatic burst + shadowstrike make your character explore the map in record times without absurd item requirements - too much focus on skills. Just your ordinary nightblade mastery that you will max eitherway!
Pneumatic Burst actually has a 5 sec CD with the Transmuter applied and you want to spam it whenever you lose a decent amount of HP (guess you had a typo there).
Low CD Pneumatic Burst is really one of the main benefits of playing DW NB.
Also, there are (many) faster end game clearing builds, but it’s decent and a lot of fun all around.
And yes, this isn’t the fastest clearing build I’ve seen. It is the fastest moving build I’ve seen-played though, especially self found (the boots are such a common drop i get x2 of each on every of my characters it seems). There can be even faster characters of course, like NB+Demo that has all of the above and +Total speed and likes riftstone for a 2nd moving skill, but that could turn out to be absurd :D.
^TL:DR this is the fastest moving selffound toon when it comes to exploring the whole map(a must do for everyone going through their first playthrough) with also great clear speeds and reasonable tankyness.
isnt every build with 135% running speed + shadowstrike under 2 sec cd a extreme fast build? And if its pure poison u only need to hit “once” and move on, everything is dying ;> ive seen 135+this as a cold sb, pure aether sb, poison wh, wb, ele melee version of saboteur with over 300k dps and also that running speed ( was super squishy in ult but worked 99% in ult when i was running with him without deffbuffs from my side) so i think there are plenty more version with that
to the topic :
If u wanna be that dark knight ure talking about take a look a this:
mega defensive, good dmg and it’s dark I also leveled one, so u dont
need the full dreeg set and all the stuff to get it work. i was fine with selffound items ( some for defense and 4-5 items with poisondmg and duration is quite enough to kill everything with the eye until u hit ultimate )
And there is a lot possible arround the build so u dont need to do it exactly this way. Take it more as an inspiration for the way ;>
The only thing with it is that it’s for sure much better with shield than with casteroffhand or 2h. So that doesnt fit in your searching but i think the style is most time worth more and it feels caster-tanky like for me, so i think u really could like it
