Noob has no idea what he is doing with demo/occultist.

Basicly I just started this wonderful game and is a lvl 34 demolitionist and occultist as second choice. I have been reading on what people play and reccomend and basicly what I understood is that everybody aim for a lategamebuild.

Thing is I am not sure I have picked a good combo and second what skills to pick with this combo at my current level. I have run up demo to max and I tried using mines, mortars bombs. I have not done the build with fire-weapons sicne I got an understand you should do that with ranged weapons or I am wrong?

The occultist part is up to lvl mastery as I thought hell hound could do will with demo as 1st since I use fire dmg as well. Let me tank and throw mines/mortars. I dont know if this is good bad or I should scrap this char later and start again. Basicly I am lost for what gear I should aim at lvl 34 and combos etc…

I use a double handed sword for main dmg, then I have gear that boots fire dmg/my skills and some pet bonuses for the hell hound. I know its alot off info but basicly I am feeling totally lost on what to do here :D! Help at noob out guys!

Pyromancer is definitely viable. That said, I think the mortar and bomb skills are kinda looked down upon around here (I don’t use them often so I’m going by what others say), and a melee Pyro is hard to pull off because they’re so fragile. I can give you a few tips though.

  1. Despite what I said above, Thermite Mines are pretty good because they reduce enemy resistances, which is like a multiplier to your own damage output.

  2. Blood of Dreeg is great for your overall toughness, and gives a lot of offensive ability to boot. Blast Shield will help, too.

  3. Firestrike can work with melee weapons, but you’d probably be better off with a Nightblade or Soldier pairing because they get what are called weapon pool skills (WPS) that work very well with Firestrike and similar skills. If you’re not deadset against it, I’d suggest switching over to ranged Firestrike to at least see how you like it; with good gear it puts out a TON of damage.

  4. I’d lose the Hellhound, honestly. It can be good but you need specific gear to make pets shine and it’ll compete with your character’s gearing options. Pyromancer isn’t really a great pet class anyway.

Ouhh ty for the answer man! Feels good to know I did to screw up completely :D! What kind off gear do you reccomend I use. Is it pistols and mines? Or is my build with grenades and urizens good? I dont use stun jacks as they feel kinda bad but I might be wrong here?

A dual pistol pyromancer it a very strong build. Check out this one: http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31535

Elemental pet summoner pyro is pretty good… Demo has good aura skills and debuffs for fire and lightning which are the two main damage types of oc pets… The hellhound aura will also help your own skills as well… But if you go pet build you have to commit to it though… You yourself will not be able to do much in terms of sheer damage.

This is my personal favorite Pyromancer
Grim Calc

It is much stronger if you have 2 [Grim Fate](Grim Fate – Items – Graceful Dusk) swords tho. As I base the entire build on the swords Proc. But will still be pretty solid until you are able to acquire them.
