Greetings to all, I recently purchased the game ‘Grim Dawn’ from Steam. But I am having a problem friends while I am trying to launch the game on my PC. I am not able to launch the game anyway. Could anyone please help me to solve the issue? Any kind of help would be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Welcome to the forum.
Make sure to exclude the game from being checked by any anti-virus programmes you have. Also verify the game files; right click on the game’s icon in your Steam library, go down to Properties and over to Local Files then choose the verify option there.
There was an activated Windows Defender, but before purchasing the game, I turned off that. But after posting the thread here, I was searching online and found some articles like this one. This article also suggested the same and also added some more important methods.
I followed some methods from there. First I updated the graphics driver and perform a system restore. Then I verified the game file and finally reinstalled the game client.
After completing the tasks properly, I had no longer any issues launching the game. But most of Steam users encounter the issue often. I dont know what could be the reason. Anyway, thank you.
If I had to guess, based on the steps you followed, it was likely a simple driver issue or an issue with some of the dependencies - such as C++ Redistributables etc.
PC gaming covers a wide and extremely varied gamut of hardware (in comparison to console gaming, where everyone has the same system(s)) so it is unsurprising that such issues will occur.
So thought I’d reach out here on this post. I seem to have suddenly been unable to start Grim Dawn as well, much like the OP.
I’ve gone through every step to resolve the issue, including reinstalling the Steam client. The only step I havn’t taken is a system restore, though not sure how that will help at this point. Also, all other steam games work fine. Not sure what next step to take. Any advice would be appreciated.
Side note: I was able to access my game a month prior to this, so the problem seems recent.
anything recent happen on your system,
like a graphics driver update
anti virus update
“new stuff”/“changes” that wasn’t “yday” when Grim Dawn worked?
No, very little changed. My first move was to verify my video card was up to date. Found out update was failing. Fixed that thinking it would finally resolve the issue, but did not. I’m guessing a conflict with a recent update to windows 10, though seems unlikely.
