1.2.1.6 update!

We back in action with the bombs :sunglasses:

Somehow ended up as one of my most DPS heavy pet builds atm, with a less than 20 second Crate kill and around 7 minute SR40

Regarding Cabalist vs Ritualist for Ghol, not sure which one is better. But I dont have any other Pet Cabalist for the current patch, so keeping this one as a Cabalist.

Have you tried to push to SR 50 like your fluffy build?

Unfortunately, not tanky enough

@Maya - Ah, too bad, I really enjoy leveling this spec. I will keep going and see how far I can go.

I made the build tankier (and somehow more DPS as well…) so should help survive even more now :3

(Build updated, now has Behemoth + Dryad and more DA)

[installing again GD]
[Trying to get used to make characters again]
[I want pets]
[I’m in blank, i never made a pet build]

Nevermind. I’ll check carnival. This blight fiends caught me off guard and now i’m copying shamelessly.

Maya - this build is absolutely fantastic. I did a SSF fresh start on hard core with this and never had a problem. I even had technical issues throughout the leveling process with my mouse freezing – apparently related to a game pad setting in Grim Dawn - and still never had any issues. For end game getting to SR 30-31 was a breeze as well as getting entire Lokarr set and Ravager and Mogdrogen (wanted to get his shoulders). Haven’t tried Calla yet because I didn’t find the magic key to unlock her. Do you by any chance have a pet conjurer build that is using Ghol set? I wanted to try that one next if it exists with this newest 1.2.x version. I am pretty sure such a build will be using Blightshard Amulet – which I haven’t found yet. Amazing how some blue items are absolutely impossible to find and I would place Blightshard at the top of the list!!

 Glad to hear it.

Sadly no, I haven’t really done any builds with ghol outside of blightfiends :frowning:.

Yeah, blues can be surprisingly harder to get :frowning:.

Okay - becoming ridiculous. Closing in on 250000 enemies killed (never got that achievement despite thousands and thousands of hours on this game – altoholism I guess) and STILL haven’t gotten a Blightshard Amulet to drop. But I have gotten:

  1. 2 complete Bysmiel sets.
  2. 2 complete Beastcaller sets.
  3. 2 complete Lost Souls sets.
  4. 3+ complete Ghol sets.
  5. 3/4 of a complete Diviner set (but blueprint owned as with the 3 sets above. Alas no Bysmiel blueprint).

Some observations: Monster totems are MUCH better for Blue Items than SR 30-31. I would assume a lower SR shard might be good for strictly blue items but totems seem to give an average of 3 or so Blue items each.

With FOA coming with the whole Awakening mechanic of Blue Items I would hope that Crate will institute a way of gambling for Blue Items similar to gambling for legendaries. Doesn’t exist right now as far as I know.

There is a WIDE disparity (obviously) in the drop rates of Blue Items. I remember back in the day with Dungeons and Dragons if the strict rules were followed a character would have literally thousands of copper pieces found for every single gold piece. People used to come up with ingenious ways to deal with the coppers. One enterprising gamer came up with the idea of melting the coppers down to make a War Wagon. Well — using that same notion – I could melt down all of the Slithbanes, Sellcore Marches, Daega Sets, Vilescorn anything, and Twilight’s Veils to make an Aircraft Carrier, the Titanic, or similar — and still have some left over!! I would love to know the relative drop rates of blue items because it has to be at least 100-1 Twilight’s Veil to Blightshard Amulet. Or my RNG is piss poor…

Or Crate can alternatively convert some of these Blue Items like Blightshard to be Purple. If they were ‘common’ Purple they would have a much better chance of dropping because I could probably make a Cruiser or two from melting the Death’s Reaches I have received while farming for Blightshard.

Hey Maya!

I just got my cabalist up to level 94 and decide to make it based around your build.

I have all of the items for version 1.2.1.6 expect for the blue belt.

Do you have any suggestions for an alternative belt that could be used here which is not blue (preferable purple or easy MI farm if purple won’t work here)?

Also is the best way to get the blue belt through SR30-31 farming?

Thanks in advance chief!

This should work well as replacement - Puppetmaster Links (Belt - Craftable - Blueprint Sold by Benevald )

Any pet affixes are fine and can take points from Spectral Binding to make up for the loss of +1 to necro from the blue belt. Eg; Cabalist, Level 100 (GD 1.2.1.6) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator

Um… I cant answer that since it has been a while

I remember lower shards giving more green and blue vs purple in the older SR. Not sure how it is atm.

Look at my post immediately above yours. SR 30-31 are NOT as good as monster totems for blue items in general. Maya is correct that lower SR shards give more blue items in general than 30-31. (Note I am speaking about Ultimate difficulty – I don’t know about Normal or Elite).
