Is bloody pox a viable end game primary skill? I know it is great for proccing devotion and it is tearing up enemies both bosses and mobs in veteran but I am wondering if I will experience a damage drop off of some kind that will impact how it performs in higher difficulties?
If bloody pox is viable what class do you think is best to pair it with to make it ultimate viable?
So far I have been enjoying it a lot but just focused on cultist abilities. Going to add curse of frailty into the mix also for devotion procs and item procs. I have several items that are proccing doom bolt on attack and it is really intense how many doom bolts are activating.
I know evil eye of dreeg is very powerful but I’d like to make a viable bloody pox build as it seems rather underplayed and under utilised though that could be a statement in itself.
Problem with bloody pox is that it will take forever to kill bosses since bosses are pretty much immune to HP reduction
I cook up a build for bloody pox in theory like this http://www.grimtools.com/calc/q2MM8l2m, but I haven’t tried it out yet, I might create a char in ultimate to try out and tell you later.
Though it is a slow bossing build, it might be fun to play through the campaign since it’s mobbing capability looks good.
As the guy above stated, any mobs resistant to HP reduction will nullify your build. God forbid they also resist the other damage types.
BP successfully deals with trash mobs on ultimate. Bosses take ages, though.
If you insist on this build - CoF is a must, along with stacking various sources of res reduction. Maybe playing with a plaguebearer weapon with blessed steel attached for bosses/heroes in fights is not a bad idea as well.
Reinforcing Curse of Frailty.
Bloody Pox’s follow-up skills Wasting and Black Death add vitality and poison damage.
CoF’s follow-up Vulnerability drops poison resistance.
I imagine pure BP turns into a lot of kiting enemies around. CoF pretty much helps out with that, too.
So I would try to stack as much poison and vitality as I can and get a bunch of equipment that procs on attacking since, you know, BP is the grand daddy of procs.
Lots of speed reduction and poison resistance reduction.
So bosses in ultimate have a lot of resistance to abilities? Hmm, makes sense. I also have doom bolt as a skill but that might not be enough either. I also worry that pairing an occultist with a nightblade might make him terribly squishy in end game. The occultist though also has a lot of debuff on enemies in regards to poison and vitality damage.
Just don’t want to spend hours leveling a character and then end up hitting a wall in ultimate and getting frustrated.
Thailehuy: Okay that build baffles me. How is that effective? I mean you have 1 point in skills I would think would need to be maxed to be effective? I’ve read a few builds and seen a similar trend. Why is having one point in a skill better than having it maxed out?
One point is night’s chill? Wouldn’t that be worth maxing because of the poison resistance reduction? Also why phantasmal blades?
Does solael’s witchfire damage affect the vitality damage of bloody pox?
Having one point means that you will use items with + skills to boost it and save skills points for others.
Phantasmal blade is because you need an attack skill to hit while bloody pox is active, no point in recasting blood pox repeatedly since it doesn’t stack. And bloody pox last for 8 seconds, you can’t just run around for 8 seconds.
Solael witch fire add flat damage to your weapon attack, or any proc that use weapon attack
But actually scratch that build. I tried it, you won’t have enough energy to sustain it. Here’s a more reasonable build, but as you expected, it takes forever to kill bosses
You need arcanist for energy and OA, and you will rely on DEE anyway for DPS on boss. For everything else you can really just cast bloody pox and run around.
Bloody pox + bat twin fang = you can’t die but you don’t do a lot damage to boss
Damn, that is what I was worried about. Bloody pox just doesn’t seem to cut it as your main attack skill in ultimate. What a shame, I was having a lot of fun with it in veteran but ultimate is whole different kettle of fish it seems. Also that build seems to be more about evil eye and sigil rather than bloody pox. Hmm will have to work out what I do with this occultist now that I’ve seen the build is not viable.
Thanks so much for the video though. Did you already have this character in ultimate or is there some short cut to get a character there?
Guess my search for a build that is not too button intensive continues. Maybe I will just have to stick with my commando and try to make that ultimate viable.
I also already spent a ton of att points in spirit and I thought cunning was important for hitting with spells?
Arcanist gives big boost to OA and Spirit, so you don’t need to spend as many points on Cunning and Spirit.
DEE is for boss DPS, Sigil is there for the proc of Manticore’s Acid Spray. I have only 1 level of Sigil, it’s hardly doing any damage. The many Sigils you saw actually come from the Boneweave Leggings proc. All my damage to trash mobs are from Bloody Pox + lots of devotion procs.
About the character, I played a character to ultimate, then I use a tool to blank out my character as a backup save. Every time I want to test new build I just bring that save over and spec him as I like
Thailehuy: really appreciate all your help. So do you think paired with an arcanist the build would be end game viable? I have 38 points in spirit at the moment. Do those boneweaver legging procs actually cause much damage and I assume it is proccing sigil right? So is it also giving life steal on each of those sigils that proc? I don’t really want to go look at the leggings because I don’t want to spoil anything for myself.
If you use bloody pox only to trigger devotion and focus on DEE, I’m sure it’s end game viable (still it involves a lot of kiting since your defense are low due to no heavy armor)
The legging just proc level 3 sigil I think, it does 420 vitality damage over 6 seconds, and heal you 40% of the damage. It might look like it deals a lot of damage in my video, but that is because I have over 1000% bonus to vitality damage.
