Wow, forgot about that spell exists.
Better OFF

It’s actually a tricky one. because night’s embreace aura could make freeze mechanic an abuse.
So you need a special item or a set like the new rime one giving -% entrapment res but for freeze. But it’s tricky because if you make it a separate debuff freezeing can be abused again so it needs to target OFF specifically.
I guess “BUff OFF so that it actually does something” but it’s not how i’d phrase it
The Rimetongue set coming in the next patch is gonna have -% entrapment resistance which’ll make blade trap more useful. Some OFF gear with -% freeze resistance would go a long way in making OFF useful too.
Barely though. Maybe against trash mobs and the such. Besides, skills like TSS and CT can already take care of that.
Actually last time i used OFF was for leveling a fire FoI mage hunter. Was a blast in veteran/elite, but then in ultimate monsters are too resistant to freeze
I don’t mind OFF modifiers as long as the item in question also has other modifiers or a proc on it, which they tend do. Can’t see myself ever using the Arcane Whispers’ “-10% Aether Resistance to Olexra’s Flash Freeze” though. I’m sure it has its uses, but I’m also sure there are probably way better choices of amulet out there most of the time.
But yeah, an OFF Rimetongue kinda thing would be pretty cool. Assuming that Rimetongue actually ends up being half decent.
Meaning no disrespect, but you’d actually use the entrapment RR on Rimetongue? It would mean needing to put points into bladetrap.
Even if it’s just one point, I’d be reluctant AF to do so.
Ofc i would, if it worked. That DA debuff, is like fevered rave but without the risk, even better, it has CC.
But it depends on how well it works. I actually like the spell, visually and mechanically, i just don’t use it cause it doesn’t last long enough
Yeah. Sorry, that’s what I meant. IF it works. That’s a pretty big IF.
If it worked for 1 sec even on a nemesis, it would be amazing
Yup. Sure, it’s not perfect, but I do like BT - it has its uses, and it looks pretty cool to boot. If Rimetongue makes it better, then I’m happy.
But don’t nems have 150% resist or something?

^And fair enough.
Yep they do.
But during the stream Zantai tried it on aleks and said it was supposed to work and didn’t. So then he said he would look into it. So one can hope for the best I guess
If it works on Aleks then half of my complaints about Rimetongue are gone. The other half is the crappy conversion but we’ll get to that once the set is released
As to the topic, I haven’t tried a freeze build in ages so don’t know if Freeze still works but if it does then OFF is fine however skill mods to OFF don’t make any sense at all. Even on Freeze builds OFF is there to disrupt the enemy and not act as a damage source. So my vote is remove this crap from level 94 items
We’ll see, i only tested BK.
Radaggan, i have no doubt it works like a charm since my pre 0.6 sigil/DB build does too.
I also like Blade Trap, visually and mechanically (it’s fun to use but doesn’t work on major bosses in Ultimate). Still works on some bosses in Normal Veteran and Elite etc. It should cause skill disruption though, an entrapped enemy will abuse their ranged skills and in some cases this makes them more dangerous - Shamblers for example.
As stated 1-2 seconds on Nemesis or other bosses would make a hell of a difference. Still a fun skill to use campaign wise.
What I’ve seen on the stream is only -45% trap resist, although I did not see every item in the set yet. But still, -45% is not enough, it might as well not exist with that value.
Hoping this number will go up, otherwise what’s the point?
Ragaddan is good but it should either pick Vitality or Acid if it wants to have conversion. Why do both? If it wants to do both then it should drop the conversion - look at Dreeg Set or Markovian Set. They do two damage types and work well
Elemental to Vitality conversion on the set is literally useless, Vitality Inquisitor already has some support. This set was perfect for Acid support for Inquisitors (still is tbh) but why is 30% of my potential damage being converted into Vitality.
Rimetongue on the other hand is literally crap…you know what, screw it. I’ll post a feedback after the patch hits, I am sure Bella can get me most of the set pieces and couple of Crucible runs can get me at least 1 our of the 3 helms within a few days of the patch.
We’ll see once the patch hits. My current stand is that 2/3 new sets are doing wonders to build diversity even if one of them has a little awkward things. Rimetongue itself doesn’t help much but that amulet is God like
EDIT:’
Btw has anyone noticed that every thread in the past few days boils down to either a “DA in crucible” discussion or into a “New Sets are crap/good” discussion. I don’t think the forums has been this excited since Ashes of Malmouth for a Patch to arrive
This seems to me like a symptom of a larger problem rather than Flash Freeze per se. There are way too many enemies with high/total resistance to crowd control, and stuff like having a single legendary set that lowers that resistance is inadequate and unsatisfying to the point that I can’t even call it a solution.
That said, I know I’m not the first person to make this point, and while this is one of maybe 3 design decisions where I think Crate legitimately dropped the ball, they seem unlikely to change it. If that’s the case, I guess Rimetongue and maybe some other sets like it are the best we can hope for.
