Offhand Damage

How does it work? I have an offhand that deals poison damage and poison DOT and gives %poision increase. I know shields will apply their damage on being hit but i am not sure about the caster offhand. I want to buff it with the poison bolts. I imagine spells also only draw %damage from and offhand when the ability says?

Off-hands do not have a damage stat the way a shield does. If you are seeing damage on an offhand, either plain old damage or a DoT, then it is in the form of a flat damage buff and as such will only be applied to weapon attacks and %weapon damage skills. Take for example the Occult Horn which has a flat 20 poison damage over 5 seconds. If you cast a spell like PRM, no poison damage will be applied. If you cast a spell that has a %weapon damage component such as Callidor’s Tempest, that percentage of 20 poison damage will be applied.

All % based bonuses apply universally as always.

That is exactly the item in question.

So if I use Venom Ammo on the Offhand, the 25 Poison damage from the Ammo will be an additional flat damage buff on the horn?

I am making a poison acid occultist and using Dregg’s eye as main damage. Dreggs eye has a small %Main Hand Weapon damage from one of the modifiers in the skill line.

So to see if I have this right. That damage buff from the Ammo is not going to ever make it to my Dregg’s Eye. It will take a portion of damage and buffs from the main hand weapon but not the offhand because there is no %Offhand on Dregg’s Eye. But that 2 x 50 poison for 5 seconds from offhand will apply to my weapon every time i attack normally. Is this correct?
