Ogarra and Coven Ward

Ogarra (smuggler at Coven’s Refuge) is in range of Coven Ward - an aura given off by nearby Warding Totem, which considerably raises resistances and health regeneration. Therefore whenever I deal with Ogarra I have to keep this buff in mind when putting on an item from stash. Otherwise I may find myself puzzled as to why my aether resistance is only 50 % out in the field.

I know this is a minor issue, but already makes me choose other smugglers when trying clothes on.
I’m not sure what I’d do about this. Perhaps move the totem a tad West. Unless it was intended of course.

Yea, also you can’t just click on Ogarra after selling to Falonestra. Have to hold your character’s hand to navigate them around the rocks before interacting.
(So maybe if Ogarra was moved that’d resolve both issues)

You don’t have to move around the rubble. Standing in this spot is near enough to interact with the smuggler. Unfortunately it is still within ward radius.

On the topic itself, I agree with Res. The ward effect so close to the smuggler annoyed the hell out of me back when AoM was new. I wasn’t on this forum yet, otherwise I would have give some feedback about it, but since then I learned to either avoid the Coven for character tweaking purposes or not do that quest at all, so it’s no longer an issue for me. But for any new players not familiar with this issue it must be quite confusing. So +1 to either moving the ward totem or the smuggler NPC. Moving the NPC, eg. to the south of the campfire would solve both issues mentioned here so I’d prefer that solution.

Idk, sounds like removing some mental math and therefore making Grim Dawn even easier.

A little workaround that I do is to talk to smuggler, than with the window still open order the character to go south, while he is going - press shift+left click for a weapon attack so that the character stops moving - it is possible this way to move south far away from the ward to lose the buff while still being within the range of “the window hasn’t closed automatically yet” from the smuggler. Need to say it is quite a tiny interval where it is possible - one more step and the window closes. Still, it is possible and not that hard to do with some practice.

Another thing that’s even easier. Click here (slightly above and left of some objects on the ground)

You will move there and lose the buff from the ward - and from there click on the Smuggler - he is still within range of interaction without walking:

Now you can do everything you want without having the buff

Still, I would agree that moving the ward a bit further away or lowering its radius of effect would be desirable.
