On city building, whats better game mechanics

I have come to dilemma, should you build all the houses and factories in the same spot or can you actually build separate smaller villages and like one village main thing is forge works and the other have like farming etc. Does the game intend to build small all over the place or better use temporary shelters and wagons and poll all other ore resources into one place ?

Both… you can build separate smaller areas separating industrial activities from residential, but you don’t have to. Should you? Well, if you want the housing stock to reach a high level then yes, but again, you can have lower tier housing near the more noxious industries, and I do to a degree.

Temp shelters are great for satellite installations, waggons simply do heavy lifting in terms of supply and will transport commodities in bulk, especially the heavier things like “ores” although I’ve seen grocery truck equivalents taking dozens of food supplies to shelters.

For my latest city, I had all the houses on one side. Next to them I had storage and industrial areas that did not impact desirability. Then I had the dirty industrial building on the far side.

I had compost buildings outside the wall, but around the house area. The raiders did not destroy theses buildings.

I had lots of wagon buildings (keep building until they are no 100% utilized), and temporary shelters outside the walls nears mines and resource gathering areas to reduce commute.

Try to think about the order you things will occur. Add storage for milk need cheese makers, and only allow milk storage there.

Add granaries near brewery and windmill, and this will help.
