Does anyone know how to use the GrimTools advanced search feature to search for items that have “-X% resistance”? For example, to search “-X% physical resistance” and have the rings Black Matriarch and Bladetwister come up as results.

*i don’t know how advanced search works exactly/full limitations and capabilities, but some stuff i find easier and better to use regular word search for, and advanced search more if multiple criteria matches in a simple way

It doesn’t work with basic search, unless you can add a wildcard in your search. For example, if I search “% physical resistance”, it gives me as results all the gear that has physical resistance. Is there a wildcard that you can add in the search phrase, like “-%[ X ] physical resistance” (where [ X ] means any numeric value), that I’m not aware of? Otherwise, I can’t manage to narrow down the search.

what, it works? check the link i just posted, it very clearly is working displaying only the rr items

not a single phys res item (no pants/boots etc)

yes, GT accepts regex, but i’ve 0 clue on how to format those proper

edit. you can’t use x, you gotta use * as random numeric value in regular word search
also when i copy paste your phrase in addition your quotes mark don’t get accepted since it’s not using the straight " " but curly “ ”

Wow, it works. So, the asterisk is the “wildcard”. Nice work, this info should definitely be included in a guide somewhere, that’s easily accessible for anyone.

“-*% physical resistance” yields the correct results. Thanks a lot for finding the way to do it.

• You can search by item / item set / affix names or by their descriptions if “Include item descriptions” checkbox is enabled. The search is not strict by default, so searching by “to all skills” will yield items that give + to all skills in a mastery or all of them (e.g. “to all skills in Soldier” or “to all skills”), however you can use “$” symbol which acts as a line break, i.e. “to all skills$” query will return items that give “+ to all skills” in all masteries only.
• You can use wildcard symbol “*" for a bit more refined search: e.g. "-*% physical resistance” to search for items that reduce enemy’s physical resistance
• You can search for several strings by putting them in quotes and separating them with a space, e.g. entering [“% fire damage” “converted to fire damage”] (without brackets) will return only those items that provide fire damage modifier AND convert some type of damage to fire.
• You can search using regular expressions if you put the query in slashes, e.g. /[^%] aether damage/ to find items that provide flat aether damage

Whoops, I didn’t see that it’s right here on the forum, sorry. An information tooltip that displays this when you use the advanced search would be even more handy, especially for people who don’t use the forum. Also, shortcuts in the UI that apply these query templates would be even better. In the drop-down list for [ Item properties → Offense ] (for newbies who didn’t figure or find out how to do it).
