Opening screen UI will not work with my mouse

The game has been working beautifully until this morning. Now the UI in the opening screen does not work at all. I am currently not using any mods of any kind. I’ve made no changes to my system, my mouse no longer will engage anything in the UI. Weird. Everything works fine outside the game.

I asked Steam for a refund on your game. So far I have been totally ignored and it’s clear this is happening to other players too. It’s a shame, I really liked your game to bad I can’t even log into it now.

Um, ok. Well since you refunded I suppose nothing remains to be done then.

That unfortunately sounds like a system end issue as there has not been a game update yesterday. What exactly were you experiencing?

Somebody else mentioned having a slight drift going on and they couldn’t use the UI either. I think they had a controller connected. Might you have a controller connected that is overriding the mouse and keyboard?

I’m not using a controller, strictly keyboard with Grim Dawn.

When I hover over the UI tabs with the mouse they don’t activate. My mouse will turn my toon around in the opening screen. When I hover over my toon the mouse wheel will swap toons, but none of the tabs in the UI will activate when you hover over them with the cursor.

There have been examples in the past of some users having issues with Windows zoom settings, where if the zoom was above 100%, the game’s cursor would register off-set from the UI elements and thus prevent clicking on them. Maybe that is the issue you are experiencing?

Neither do I.
But a plugged in, malfunctioning controller made the game totally unplayable for me.

The right thumbstick had a slight drift to it, enough to intermittently send input and making GD think I switched.
When it did, mouse and keyboard were useless and no menu buttons would work.

I just checked the Windows Zoom setting it was set at 100%.

I don’t even own a controller for this PC. I have a wireless P4 controller that I use with my Steamdeck and it’s safely stored with my Deck at my Studio. Thx for the advice though.

My 4k monitor went out, and I had to switch over to a 1080p TV. Is that potentially causing the problem?

Wait…so you were running the game at 4k and switched to a 1080p screen? Did you update your video settings in the process?

Go to C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\Documents\my games\Grim Dawn\Settings and delete options.txt. Should reset your settings.

Wolcen (Buggy POS game, I know) once set itself to 4K for me. Caused the same offset issue Zantai mentioned earlier since I don’t have a 4K monitor.

That solved the problem, thank you for all your help today. I know I have been hyper critical and I apologize. I’ve been burned by so many games recently I have developed a very cynical attitude. I was already grumpy, my monitor was only 32 days old when it failed. Grrrr. Thx so much, all the best.
