Order of Defense and Retaliation

In TQ Reflect would apply before any defense. Your enemy could even miss your (because of high DA) and still would get his damaged smashed in his face.

Does this still work like this is GD? If I want to play as an Reflector/Retaliator, would I need to keep my defenses low or can I go full Castle and still let the enemies kill themselves?

The lower your DA in GD, the better chances of Retaliation proccing, so no, these enemies actually have to contact you on hit in order to get smashed back.

However, you also can’t be expecting to play a reckless retaliation character with low DA and expect everyone dying. Yes, the enemies will definitely get hit back by reflect and such, but you will also receive a fuck ton of damage by them in the face. So the better your defences, the better chances of you making them kill themselves without you breaking a sweat.

I suggest at least 2800-2900 DA, with maybe going up to 3100-3200 with procs. That should suffice for 95% content of the game, including Nemesises. Super Bosses, though, require additional preparations.

Thanks, so Reflector/Retaliator is not as good as it used to be in TQ then?

In GD you have to actually get hit, yes. Too much DA can be a bad thing for such a build, hard to believe but true.

More like, not actually that broken.
I wish we would get more options for Ranged Retaliation, though. It’s the bane of these builds in GD, since the only thing which works against them is Reflect.

It’s still a very solid build, if you want to breeze the content and relax. I killed more than 10 Nemesises with this and my HP didn’t even move. It’s awesome.
