OUCHY got nerfed

I got all excited about the new mastery, until I got a nasty surprise when I logged on my saboteur. I just lost 9k DPS. I have only just got him to that point and was enjoying the damage on ultimate, to lose 9k dps is bloody terrible ;(

New mastery isn’t out yet

I feel your pain lost 5k dps duel pistol build, screw patches like these they are a game killer

Comments like these are the real game killer.

Unless they provide more information, I ignore such posts as I have no idea what their character looks like. No idea of the before or after.

My level 31 Demo lost around 3k DPS, which is strange. I had around 7k before the patch, now around 4k, and yet I’m looking at the numbers and thinking that surely not that much has changed, after all they said they buffed firestrike, with a corresponding slight nerf to Explosive strike.

Previously, I had around 3k damage a hit, with 130% attack speed and was being told I had 7k DPS before this patch… so I think that, as Zantai said, don’t focus on the numbers on your character sheet, but rather by performance.

Probably it is only related to a tooltip bug, as Nine illuminates here.

Perhaps actually try PLAYING the character (in places you are familiar with tackling) and see if there truly is a noticeable nerf. (as opposed to jumping the gun and talking about how much you just hate these updates etcetc) (coughcough) =/

yeah demo’s been nerfed yet again for the third consecutive time in as many patches. It’s not really viable class anymore unfortunately as it’s main perk, dps, has been hit pretty hard, even more so then when fire strike was nerfed, and now other classes can do a similar role with a whole lot more survivability. Personally I’m retiring my pure demo and gonna play with the other classes instead from now.

I’d say a 30k nerf on my dps is pretty noticable… *cough cough

What nerf to Demo?

I merely shifted flat dmg from explosive strike to firestrike and boosted firestrike a bit such that there was a net gain in total flat dmg, although it maybe resulted in more fire dmg, a bit less physical.

I made this change because I noticed people were skipping firestrike and just rushing to pump up explosive strike.

On my demo chars, I gained DPS, so not sure how other people are losing it unless they’re really oriented toward physical dmg.

I’m wondering if a lot of the loss people are seeing is from the display change and not actual loss of damage.

Hi Zantai, i’m looking at the dps values and it;s a significant change in it’s value. I don’t know whats been nerfed, I asked that in another thread as it goes. Perhaps you can shed some light as to why the value is significantly lower since the patch perhaps?. Also, there aren’t any reports of a memory lerak from this patch by any chance are there?. I just come across an instance whilst the game was running that has left my PC with a loss of all my available ram?.

Yes I’m looking at the stats of the dps drop.

Found it.

I had 16/12 for Explosive strike, 5879 DPS.

I took all of the points out of Explosive strike, 5879 DPS.

Clearly, Explosive Strike no longer shows how much damage it applies on the character sheet.

Mystery solved.

nice one, i’ll try that too and see if that’s my problem as well.

When you take a game and change the way someone likes to play it be by skills, damage, the way items work then yes it can kill the fun for some and not for others. Constant changing isn’t a good thing.

Look at diablo 2 the biggest changes they ever patched was 1.10 which made skills synergize and whatever patch that nerded the iron maiden skeletons in chaos sanctuary.

The first was a benefit for everyone as it made every build get use out of useless skills and not having loads of unused skill points used the second helped everyone save for casters.

Granted I really haven’t played much with patch but on the surface when the first thing one notices is dps it doesn’t seem good to lose damage. Thus people voice an opinion. You don’t agree doesn’t mean that comments like mine are game killers it means change a game too much and people leave.

I haven’t touch D3 in so long cause they changed that game from being bad to being god awefull.

I hardly even use the DPS tooltip to see if my damage increased or lowered. I actually test it to see if there’s an actual difference.

So when i see that my character gained or lost DPS due to patch, i hardly even care.

I thinks so too, at least in the case of the demo, when the last 3 patches have introduced changes that have seen it’s dps drop consistantly (although in this case it seems to be more down to a bug) I can’t see how anyone could be happy about that and not be justified to at least voice their opinion about it, when it’s not even the most OP class in the game as it is.

There’s your answer as to the DPS drop, and reaffirms what I said about trying it out ingame before focusing too much on a DPS value. I’ve updated the changelog so that this fact is made clear.

Virtually no DPS change in practice.

how do you test though when you’re dps drops from 90k to 60k… I mean everything dies anyway… or perhaps it shouldn’t matter in the first place?
