I notice that almost no bloodbound monsters have ANYTHING in their drop pool. Which is really odd, as you would expect bloodbound totem to be in their drop pool.
I noticed this because I was trying to figure out why it is so hard to farm bloodbound totems, it appears to be an oversight where the devs forgot to assign drop pools for certain mobs.
Bloodbound totems in particular are drop only. which is why this oversight has such a large effect
EDIT: it seems I am mistaken a bit about drop pools, rares do not tend to drop the other special mats throughout the game, which means this isn’t actually an oversight. Just a really really low drop rate.
Blood of Cthon drops from a LOT of normal trash mobs, including some of the bloodbound in fangs of asterkarn. So YES, I did expect for it to have a similar drop rate, or to AT LEAST have a 1% drop rate on bloodbound enemies.
Incidentally Blood of Cthon USED to be bugged in the same way.
And I am talking about bloodbound enemies here, who presumably should also have a low chance of dropping the bloodbound set - yet these mobs have NOTHING on their loot tables, nothing at all, not even the bloodbound set at a low rate. It clearly is an oversight.
Quite an assumption to make, very unlikely an oversight.
Probably its meant to be a high quality material that is hard to get, making the new relic and set crafts a bit pricier. Wouldn’t mind it either if they make it drop across all Bloodbound enemies.
I went through EVERY bloodbound monster in the game, hero monsters and boss monsters have both the “bloodbound totem” and the “bloodbound” set in their drop table.
There actually are 2 rare enemies that count here, “kurn bloodbound berserker” “kurn bloodbound doomsayer” at 1% and 5%. Yet they are the only rares that count, instead of all bloodbound rares, which means that you do not get a lot of kills that count towards the drop. Given that they spawn in the same location as other bloodbound rares and that almost every bloodbound hero has it in the drop pool it does seem very much like an oversight.
Also the bloodbound totems NEED to have a reliable way to obtain them, because of the altar of ascention being a big sink for them, using up 5 at a time if you are intending to do that, meaning that the farm taking this long isn’t really in line with other altar of ascention resources.
first, there are duplicate instances of bloodbounds in db, some of those are even special/for the quest - they do not represent all bloodbound enemies (if you actually paid attention ingame you’d realized zerkers and doomsayers etc are not actually rare spawns either)
second, the regular non duplicate trash has totem, at a low expected rate (and they are not rare enemies)
i think what you did was see ritualist, check those, and attribute all drops to those and the white tier trash mob
Meanwhile if you look at Bloodsworn adulants they also drop nothing, this is pretty normal for a lot of white tier enemies.
And the champion bloodsworns don’t drop blood of ch’thon, they drop seals which might be a different rarity, ie the difference between blood of ch’thon and confetti drop seals.
that’s why i’m making the comparison between totems being more like bloods and not like seals, because blood doesnt’ drop like confetti from trash (seals does), likewise totems have the boos/hero drop rate, but they also exist on trash just in equally lower ration
ie appears perfectly normal, and you’re looking at wrong tables+conflating things that are not related
Actually blood has a lot of non-hero monsters that will actually drop it, to such a point that you can get a few just by farming necropolis(which isn’t even the most optimal method). Blood is actually farmable in a relatively short amount of time.
Blood USED to have a terrible drop rate, but they changed it because it actually was an oversight, I remember the day they patched it. It isn’t dropping like candy, but it most certainly is dropping 5 or even 10 times as often as bloodsworn totems.
Meanwhile if you go to every location where there is bloodsworn in the entire game(by using the grimtools map for “bloodsworn totems”) you are lucky to end up with 3 bloodsworn totems in total.
what ch’thonian trash drops blood in high amount?
I really genuinely think you’re mixing stuff up, ie borked drop rates vs you not being happy totems aren’t 10% on all bosses
stop using a third party map as guide/source then? - it does not indicate 100% drop, nor that you’re even supposed to get X drops, it means it can drop because the trash enemies with 0.1% drop and heroes with 3% drop can drop it etc if boss spawn…
And you can clearly see the bloodbounds does have the totems in their pool, and they’re even similar to blood drops, except for champs also dropping them contra bloods
show me on GT which chthonians trash drops blood abundantly/on par with bloodbound heroes totem drop rates
you’re simply misguided and misremembering how the game works and worked for years re drop rates and blood
conflating them with seals and trash mobs
and not actually checking the right tables/db
while being confused by a new unrelated feature that does not mean or even suggest what you think…
It would help your case much more if you framed it as “Bloodbound Totems are too rare, please make them drop more often!” instead of pretending it’s an oversight and trying to convince us that it is.
It’s a design decision, not something that should automatically work the way you describe simply because it seems logical to you. All of that overblown mechanical reasoning brings nothing to the table other than explaining how the game is currently set up.
Do you really think this is an oversight that just happened by accident?
If you insist, I am checking it, it seems that MOST rare monsters also have no drop of blood either. But that does not by itself explain why I can farm lots of blood but not lots of totem.
Ironically some of the versions of bloodbound ritualist has 100% blood of crhoon, but we are talking single location spawns, so it is more like a boss in total mop counts, these seem to be listed in 3 locations in the dread wastes. This is probably the main reason why I was so convinced at blood having a high drop rate, while farming bloodsworn totems I would get three bloods from guarenteed drops, but I didn’t know it was guarenteed because a yellow mob was the one who had the drop.
That said, it seems I was mistaken, I thought blood was something that could be found on rares, but that isn’t the cases.
/= chtonians
(also/= eachother, bloodsworn and bloodbound are different enemies and drops)
It’s very important to keep in mind/when using GT that GT isn’t always 100% accurate mostly because it can parse things in a confusing ways, like “quest”/fixed purpose spawn mobs, duplicate mobs/XY entry used for certain specific events GT does not list.
^this is also part of why Devs wont always default accept bug reports or feedback buffs/nerfs based solely on GT data entries
This becomes very evident if you try to farm a mob or thing that outright doesn’t exist - like a 1 shot kill enemy
GT additionally/besides the above general norm, currently have some FoA specific hickups and overlap issues, so it can claim something is from X source when it’s from another, or a source that doesn’t exist/gets mixed up with another entry,
or it can filter out duplicate entries that are actually valid, eg enemy that exists in 3 versions, but shares drop table but db will only list 1 of them.
Point is, don’t get overly hung up on map and item db atm, specially with some new(er) features still getting tuned too
Like Nola said, if you feel the 3-8% drop rate is too low, make a feedback thread asking to get them buffed to XY/other material rates
You may be correct on it claiming that “kurn bloodbound” have a drop rate of it when they do not. As with multiple runs of black citadel(to test) it does not seem to have dropped, this could be rng though.
You are also correct in the map being innacurate, because berserkers and doomsayers spawn sometimes outside of the expected zone.
I did not see anyone else mention bloodbound ritualist in specific.
I think you are correct, I did in fact edit my original post
There does seem to be a lot of confusion and miscommunication in this thread…
It does not help that I kind of have to read into grimtools if I want to find what can drop certain things though, so it is hard to avoid reading too much into it.
