Had to go through 3 springs of near-starvation before I realized the issue: I’m planting peas and successfully harvesting them (no frost, heat, rot, or deer losses), and then they’re not counting towards food stocks for anyone. They’re not in any storage, they’re not in my market, they’re not in the field storage, and they’re not being picked up and eaten by villagers. They simply get harvested, and the last yield (correctly calculated and displayed on the farming screen) disappears forever into oblivion, and my overall food supply continues a slow decline, indicating that no newly harvested food has joined it from any source. Playing custom difficulty (medium for everything except radiers, which I set to easy since they’re irritating) and on an Idyllic Valley map.
Please advise what additional info might be needed to help with debugging. This one is very disappointing, as I’d actually never previously had a bug that impacted gameplay, and I use peas a LOT to maintain fertility without having to plant clover.
P.S. super minor bug with new patch: I’m playing in German, and everything is correctly translated except for the new additions. “Books,” “Paper,” and “Chapel” are displayed instead of “Bücher,” “Papier,” and “Kapelle.”
I’ve encountered this, and it’s really irritating. I think what you’re encountering specifically is the last farmer dropping the harvested foods immediately after picking them up for transport. Sometimes it takes an entire season for someone to come back and get them. When they’re on the ground they’re basically in limbo. I’ve tried moving a laborer over to get them, and it doesn’t always trigger to pick them up.
For me it’s been any crop but very random.
Then I think what we have are separate issues. The crops aren’t getting dropped somewhere, and if they are, then there is no icon for the dropped goods on the ground like there should be. The fact that this is happening ONLY and SPECIFICALLY with peas tells me that this is a bug.
Please, Crate, have somebody check that peas weren’t accidentally reassigned the yields of clover or something. It gets much harder to have enough food plus maintain field fertility when I basically have to eliminate peas from all my rotations.
There is no chance they are not included in your food unless you have some local file issue and need to verify game files. Virtually all of my towns grow them.
You either need more farmers or more laborers, or both.
I’m well aware that they are SUPPOSED to count towards beans. I’m here reporting this because they’re simply disappearing into a void, not being stored anywhere. It’s not a labor issue, either. I used 6 farmers on a 6x12 field (normally completely adequate for any crop), harvest occurred, I was at 3 months of total food supply for my village with no previous bean storage anywhere, and…nothing was added to my supplies. No beans anywhere, including the field storage and including simply being dropped somewhere. Nearly had starvation as a result, as that was my only field for my village of ~72 people at the time.
I’m a big fan of what you guys are building here. Been playing for most of a year now and have never had a significantly gameplay-affecting bug. But this is a big one, so please don’t dismiss it outright as nonexistent. I’m an experienced player and know that something is not functioning correctly at the moment. I’m very open to debugging suggestions or providing more information to you to help, just please advise as to what would be most helpful.
