People become stuck near the lake, they are unable to move or be moved and they die off.

Hey, I had this problem too and AFAIK it’s already mentioned in the known issues post. Should be fixed in the next patches.

I have a work around which might help you: Try to do some terraforming with the leveling tool. In my case it resulted in path finding kicking in and the villagers could be saved. It even stopped this bug from happening again since. Good luck.

Rarely, some villagers can end up congregating in one spot, get stuck, and inevitably starve to death
We do not support nor condone death cults. Cults are not part of the base game experience.

We are investigating a fix for this issue. For now, if this occurs, you can work around it by walling off the afflicted area or starting a new map (sorry!).
