"Permanent" temporary buffs

Specifically Blood of Dreeg, Pneumatic Burst and Word of Renewal.

I could easily see these becoming hybrid skills (not sure if possible in the engine). Meaning the passive part will be permanently on and behave like other permanent buffs (there isn’t a scenario where you wouldn’t want to be under the effects of the buff) but still allow the skill to be cast and have it just be the associated heal.

As much fun as it is to be pressing the button like a robot every 60 or 180 seconds despite not needing the heal to refresh the buff (plot twist - it’s not), I’d much rather have full control over when to receive the heal.

Would probably require replacing the duration bonuses on related gear pieces with something useful though…

Maybe make it an option so we can have both methods?

iirc it was said the base issue is they lose heal functionality, at most you could drastically increase duration as the skill type doesn’t handle separation of effects like that.
(buff duration been brought up many times before for QoL too)

Could making it so that taking the skill would internally grant 2 skills work? One with the passive effects that would behave like a permanent buff, and an active skill that would be just the heal?

Yeah, I’ve never really thought it felt good needing an item to make the durations not really annoying to deal with.

i couldn’t say, i don’t know if secondary effects can be manually activated, or if secondary templates allows to be toggle buffs
i’m sure “technically” anything is possible with some template coding effort, it was more how the things work now/as is with what’s available

like in my mind i imagine it to be simple, main skill becomes a regular “buff” insta effect where the heal is, then secondary effect “on cast/heal trigger toggle buff”, but i don’t know if that’s even doable or if it would cause its own issue like PB constantly having a 1sec buff delay each time you activate the heal (like how seal aura is delayed)

This tech (passive + active effect on one ability) does not exist in the engine and is not going to happen.

What about the “granting 2 skills” method? Picking Blood of Dreeg in the skill tree would activate a buff with the passive part of the skill and also provide a separate active ability that would be just the heal?

There is no method by which this is possible.
