Pet Conjurer - Moggy the Puppy!

Also how come some pet builds use manticore and some use elemental storm?

2x Familiar + 2x Briarthorn should use manticore instead of elemental storm?

Ty for the kind words, I also had fun making them

Looking towards the feedback.

If you are using a build with Wind Devils and Spark of Ultos + Kelp Rings to convert physical to elemental, you will get more use out of Elemental Storm.

In every other case, Manticore wins out imo.

Changed 2 builds:

Ok… the runs did not notably get any faster, but bosses do die faster. I am guessing the lack of AoE balanced stuff out? idk…

Is there any way to get 80 pierce bleed aether chaos resistance for pets without ruining the build? On the cold one

https://www.grimtools.com/calc/4VxWPkv2

Probably the closest you can get. On the stats page, the pierce and Bleeding resists from Oak skin and Emboldening Presence aren’t counted. So it is higher than it appears.

(unless oak skin doesn’t count for pets. I am not too sure if it does or not. someone correct me if I am wrong)

I can’t test your newer version right now but here is the fastest of the videos I took from your older version. 6:29 clear

For what it’s worth, I found that micromanaging pets doesn’t help for the most part with these builds. You get better clear speeds by generally letting them spread out and focus on different targets which is hard to make them do manually. Using Pet Attack can be helpful for specific boss enemies, but not so much for clearing out the rest of the trash. A little bit of active control can help, to keep Familiars from shooting at the wall for example, but overdoing it ends up slowing you down. I noticed the same thing with a Blight Fiend + Diviner build in this thread.

The best thing you can do as a pilot in these cases is to generally try to keep the pets within the banner, and to run around while the pets are killing things to try to draw mobs out of the spawn locations.

The builds where controlling pets makes a big difference is Skeletons with Flame Torrent since you need them to be at melee, and for pure Familiar builds where you want them shotgunning things.

Also, if you want to get a more accurate timer without taking videos, clicking the little circle above the level indicator makes the game display the current time at the top of the screen.

They apply to pets and it shows on the character sheet in game, but does show not in GrimTools.

I see. Ty for the info

I have a question with the last build:

the ring converts physical to chaos. However, leviathan is cold. how do you get cold damage?

I assume you are talking about the chaos puppy?

If so, Leviathan was simply taken for the extra dmg from the proc mostly. There is no particular focus on cold.

On the topic of cold, just tried Ravager with the Frozen puppy.

Took 9-10 mins for some reason. No consumables used except Hp/Mana potions because the fight took too long.

Oleron also stepped up from the shadows with a slightly altered build

The Puppy Wargod: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/YVWJdpy2
Crucible times remain the same but feels a bit better to play.

Took 7 mins flat. No potions/consumables used. Felt rather easy

With the Flaming Puppy, Ravager time is in-between that of the Chaos and Lightning variations.

Maya, thanks for your time and efforts to check different devotion combinations.

Since we need only 12 green nods for Mogdrogen and you have overcapped elemental resistance, maybe it’s worth to respec from Scholar’s Light into Hawk (for +2% OA and +4% Crit Damage)?

You could. But I chose to stick with Scholar’s light mainly because of the extra mana regen ensuring that I don’t have to keep an eye on my mana.
The extra ele.res will also help more against mogdrogen and make our Arcane Barrier that much more effective.

But if we are strictly speaking of the crucible with blessings or if you are willing to use Elixirs of Spirit, you will squeeze in a bit more dmg from Hawk.

Also Puppy Wargod can now do crucible without blessings

No potions/consumables used. Was rather easy with a bit of kiting. Took about 13 mins.

I learned something today. That I love fire!!!

The flaming puppy got a few steroid injections and is now a different build and a different beast.

For all its power, it cannot safely do Crucible without blessings though. So don’t try that if you are playing HC.

Have you ever heard of the tragedy of Oleron, the God of War? It is not a story that the rest of the moggy puppies would tell you.

He was said to be a powerful warrior, so great that he could use his sheer badassery to grant death to so many. He was such a badass that he could even kill the gods unaided.

He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was living forever, which eventually ofcourse he did. Unfortunately, he taught his puppy everything he knew, then it killed everything in sight except its master. Ironic. He could save others from life, but not himself.

No potions/consumables used. Alexander is pretty much the only real threat.
Do note that it is not exactly fast, but it will survive pretty much everything even without blessings.

Edit: Changed the lightning build a bit. Not much difference interms of clear speed or anything, but going Manticore + Assassin’s Blade without Rhowan’s Crown did not really help much even with the extra physical & pierce RR, so decided to ditch Assassin’s Blade and go Manticore + Rhowan’s crown instead.

Also, some minor tweaks in other builds.

Have you ever had this crazy idea that worked beautifully and you still can’t believe you actually pulled it off?

Took about 15 mins. No potions/consumables used. Requires a bit of kiting and the trick is to never be greedy & take your time.

And to think I ranked it in last place interms of build potential/power…

Would you be able to see what my build does in crucible? I don’t have time for it :frowning:

https://www.grimtools.com/calc/qNYJGpW2

I always wanted to see how it fairs but I just don’t like crucible at all.

I could, but I don’t think it will be an accurate representation of its capabilities.

I am not exaggerating when I say how terrible I am with piloting. I get away with it because I design my builds specifically to counter my weakness. I am not a good person to test builds :frowning:

Also, it might probably be best to atleast try how it performs in your hands. For example, Sigatrev’s results with my builds were worse than mine and I do absolutely terrible with pretty much all of his builds. Different people will mean different results.

And since you are the one who is going to be playing it, basing it on its effectiveness or lack of in the hands of someone else won’t be accurate.

EDIT: I tried it out. This was the result.

No potions/consumables used. It was rather easy to play but I found it pretty impossible to keep pets alive as you can see in the screenshot.

Murmur, The Mistress of Rumors was a jealous woman. She had once spread the most vile canard that the God of War, Oleron had a small and dull blade incapable of penetrating even the softest of substances. Her poisonous words which stung like the coldest ice had often ruined many a man…

But not Oleron. With the help of his most loyal pet, he had proven to all who bore witness that his blade was as sharp as ever and of adequate size for the task.

Murmur did not take it well. She knew she had to do something and she knew exactly how…, by getting a puppy of her own!

No potions/consumables used. Took about 14 mins. Was pretty easy. Just take your time and play with care.

While the man and the woman were bickering among each other, arguing about whose puppy was prettier, there was one watching from the shadows with a smirk on his face.

They had only adopted the puppies. but he, he was Ultos, the creator of the original puppy, the god of storms… and all things sparkly. He raised his fist, clenched in it was the mighty spear of lightning. He looked sideways towards his loyal companion and threw the spear with a thunderous roar.

Dat score tho o_0

Btw, I noticed something that for some reason I hadn’t noticed before.

Have you ever heard of the phrase, “The closest you are to danger, the safer you are” ?

Probably not, because that doesn’t really make much sense. However in our particular case atleast, it rings true.

I am speaking of the fight with Ravager. It seems that everything becomes easier if you just place yourself as close to him as possible. He targets you alot less, meaning the encounter becomes faster and easier.

Use his revolving red orbs as a radius indicator. Stay within that distance and don’t go farther than that. Ofcourse don’t touch the orbs themselves as they will damage you, so stay a little closer to him than that.

Then cast CoF along with DEE, everytime DEE comes out of CD. In other words don’t spam CoF. If he targets you, kite him around the tree on the lower left. Once he goes back to your pets, get close to him and repeat.

To better understand what I am talking about, watch this video. It is the same thing.

So basically, pets survive longer, you get targeted alot less and the entire thing becomes a walk in the park.
