I’ve been looking around but cant seem to find any way to make pet damage scale with their level. Is this possible to do at all, I noticed that pet health and energy scale with level but damage is only affected with +pet damage items/devotions.
Can it be done?
Depends how exactly you want it.
If you want it to scale with YOUR level:
Make a skill with as many levels as you need, then write an equation here that gives the pet a passive that grants damage or a skill for a main attack (like firestrike, or look at the hellhound’s innates for reference). Then just make this skilllevel = to charLevel1 or w/e formula you want. Make sure the pets level is also charLevel1, and you should have the skill at the same level as you.
If you want the skill level = to the pets level… just instead of putting charLevel, just put 1,2,3,4 etc for each skill level of the pet. Level 1 of the pet gets 1 level in the skill, level 10 pet gets level 10 skill.
Thanks for the help, it is greatly appreciated!
I’m a fan of doing something like this. I quickly figured out that pet damage was complete and utter garbage, unless you heavily gear for it. IMO that’s not balanced at all. The pet does considerably less tool tab for linked devotions than what’s listed. I figured that out quickly when I linked flame torrent to my briarthorn pet on my Druid and saw how completely and utterly useless the damage was. What was I expecting? A pet that could at least take out some of the “white” trash mobs. Pets were done better in TQ.
I’m not saying Crate should change this. Not at this stage. Because to go back and change something like that now would be a massive effort, and if pet damage was balanced to compensate without gear with bonuses for pets, then the pets with that gear would be way too OP. So at this point, its something better left to a modder to solve for a player who wants a pet as a damage supplement without having to focus on gearing for pets exclusively.
