Pet damage types

So, I’ve been making a pet build and I saw that about 90% of pet items give +% All Damage, rather than a particular damage type, or give both, like lightning damage and all damage. Then I realized, there aren’t many items that convert pet damage passively (there’s even a ring that converts damage to lightning after proccing its effect). So I’ve been thinking, we might want to build a lightning pet build, and we’ll be kind of done after building some (even random, as I did) items and then we could get RR from devotions, for example we’d build lightning damage, get a random Guardian of Death’s Gates for the RR and Arcane Bomb for 65% RR, and a wind devil for another +35% RR to lightning, but then we’d not really deal lightning damage, because the lightning damage will be granted by some devotions and your gear in very small amounts (27 in my case) and Glyph of Kelphat’Zoth ring grants us +25% per ring after we proc it by our (not pets) damage sources (correct me if I am wrong), so we basically deal only 27 lightning damage and all other damage will be vitality, poison, cold, physical, bleed, pierce etc. This is why I thought Crate could add more conversions to pet items (for pets only) and (maybe) make it an “all damage converted to X” instead of the same as players have. For example, Glyph of Kelphat’Zoth would convert 15% (not 25) of all damage to lightning damage, so therefore we’d deal with our skeletons 11 lightning damage if we get only one Glyph of Kelphat’Zoth ring and max the whole skeleton tree. Making some more items with reduction to all resists would be a fail of an idea, because players could stack it up to 100% RR (just an example) and annihilate some bosses because of that.

TL;DR:
What do you guys think about changing the conversion for pets from “X damage converted to Y damage” to “all damage converted to X damage” and lower the existing values from gear by ~30 - 50% as well as adding more conversion pet items?

JayNyne revamped his Lazy Summoner build into a pet lightning one.

I actually have almost the same build, just went for Guardian of Death’s Gates because of the RR, and then managed to get some support for vitality too, but lightning is still my main.

I am just curious what other people think about “all damage converted to X” instead of the same type that characters have.

I had to read that first post at least 3-4 times because of how disjointed the writing looked. I hope this post touches on everything you were hoping to get answered, but your stream of consciousness writing made your points hard to figure out:

  1. Guardian’s Gates flat RR is only useful if you have a 100% WD skill like Bone Harvest or Riftstone’s Chaos Strike. If you don’t have any of those types of skills, Guardian’s Gates is useless.

2)“All Damage Type converted to One” takes the already dull concept of “stack as much flat damage buffs as possible” and cranks it to overdrive. It no longer allows the player to choose their equipment based off of wise investment and worthwhile tradeoffs (“Do I choose to buff Blood of Dreeg, or Hellfire, or Storm Spirit?” because ultimately you have to choose all of the flat damage sources to get the most out of the “all damage converted to X.” It ends up making builds more homogeneous than they already are, and that’s the opposite of diversity.

  1. Zantai has already mentioned that he’s not going to give pet damage conversion the same treatment as player damage conversion, which makes sense as there’s so much player conversion out there already that to duplicate the same effort with pet damage would be a next level of difficult. That being said, I would love to see more pet conversion items, especially those that complete the conversions we already have.

What I mean by that is more “Physical to Lightning / Elemental” items so that you can get more ways to get 100% Physical to Elemental conversion without constantly relying on Glyph procs. Also we need to have more “Physical to Vitality” items to get to 100% Physical to Vitality conversion (Best we can get is around 60% between Master of Death and high rolls of Guardian of Death’s Gate).

  1. We already have some “-% to most or all resists” in the game. Ravager’s Helm has a -% all resists proc, but apparently it’s centered on your character and has a small radius, so you have to prepare to be in the thick of the fight. Also, the Pestilence of Dreeg amulet and the Salazar’s Blade dagger also provides some nice “-% to all resists” debuffs.

However, even if there aren’t any more items that do that, you can get close to -100% RR with multiple major damage types as long as you orient your class choice and devotions to obtain the appropriate RR. As such, getting the right RR shouldn’t be a big deal.
