I am reviving this old thread.
This is my final frontier.
For those that don’t know, Harvey the Drifter is the old, mentally ill guy in the Burrwitch Estates. If you try to help him, he gets spooked and attacks you. His story is very sad, he clutches a doll he believes to be his son.
Your choices are either to leave him there forever, or kill him.
It is difficult for me to accept after braving both the scorching desert of the Korvan Basin, the frozen mountains of Asterkarn, slaying demonic eldritch beings, and even defeating the avatars of Gods, that we cannot save him or give him a better life somewhere.
It would be incredible if there was a secret quest-line to do so.
I have suggested maybe the way to do so be related to intervening in the bullying of the little girl in the Malmouth Sewers. Maybe she gives you a toy that you can give to Harvey to trust you.
Maybe we have to talk to some of the crazy Dreeg people to better understand how to approach him. I like the idea of it involving an NPC from every DLC.
I understand some people feel he’s doing just fine on his own, but his supplies or whatever means he’s using to get by surely can’t last forever, and additionally there’s gotta be a better place for him.
Maybe saving him could reward a secret offhand legendary that looks like a toy. But even if it awarded nothing, I would be so happy just knowing we’ve brought this old NPC to a better place.
I think the concept itself is touching, that our player character, in all his or her adventures, never forgets Harvey, never stops thinking about how to save him too. A hero that refuses to leave anyone behind if he or she can help it.
This would truly be the closure of a great circle in Grim Dawn. He was the first NPC we could not save, so perhaps with the final expansion, now we can. Please.
