I’m unsure how pets, devotion procs and auras actually interact. Could some please clarify if my assumptions are correct?
Devotion skills assigned to pets still scale with player damage bonuses
Iee’s overload is applied to pets like iee itself
Only the unmodified bonuses are extended to pets, and are then modified by the pet bonuses
The flat damage shown on iee takes player bonuses into account, so you would have to substract them and then add pet bonuses to calculate how much pets actually benefit
As far as I know:
1: yes they do
2: Iskandra’s Elemental Exchange? It does not affect Pets. Only if you take Manifestation, and then only converts some of their damage to elemental.
3: I don’t think Celestial Skills use any pet stats. Pets’ attacks trigger them, yes, but they use your stats.
4: Again, don’t think that aura affects pets. Would be a bit too powerful if it did. Does its icon appear under them? I never used an Arcanist as my second mastery for a pet build, so cannot try it.
5: Storm Spirit does affect pets, yes. Hellfire too. But as I said, I don’t think it matters in damage calculation which pet you assign some Celestial Skill to, it will still use your bonuses, not the pet’s.
There are two general rules regarding pets for this topic:
[li]Everything on a pet-scaled pet will scale by pet bonuses, including any auras applied and devotion procs.[/li]
[li]In-game tooltips always refer to the player’s own bonuses, so tooltips are always wrong when these bonuses are instead applied to pet-scaled pets. In fact, pet tooltops in this game are usually wrong for almost everything. The tooltips simply don’t recognize the concept of “pet-scaled pet”.
[/li]With that in mind:
No, scales by pet bonus. Devotion tooltips will erroneously show player scaling regardless of where the devotion is assigned.
Yes, there’s no difference between auras and their modifiers. However, pet DOT damage (such as the elemental DOTs provided by Overload) are never displayed to reduce visual clutter.
Yes, use Grimtools to see unmodified base values before pet bonus scaling. Tooltips will erroneous show player scaling even when applied to pets.
Perhaps in theory, but there’s no need to reverse engineer the bonuses (and you’ll get it wrong if you try - see #5 below). Just look up the base value on Grimtools for your IEE level.
Yes. However, keep in mind that the +% elemental bonuses and other specific damage type bonuses won’t be displayed on the pet character sheet, since the “Damage” listed there refers only to +% all damage. There is no in-game way to find out your pet’s damage modifier for any specific damage type - you must manually calculate it.
What does pet-scaled pet mean? Y’mean basically all pets that are granted by skill, no? The ones granted by items and artifacts are mentioned to scale with player bonuses, right?
Both storm and wendigo totems explicitly state that they scale by player (last sentence of skill description). Generally, any summonable entity (including traps, mines, etc) is treated by the game as a player-scaled pet unless it’s explicitly stated to be a pet-scaled pet.
Player-scaled pets and pet-scaled pets can come from any source - all that matters is whether the pet is designated as player-scaled or pet-scaled. For example:
Dont want to hijack the topic but I wanna ask DaShiv something.
Man, do you think its an overkill to use all these: Deatchill relic (Aura) + Chilling Weapons Aura (Coldstone component) + Heart of the Winter King Aura (From Bane of the WK weapon)? Or I need more ~base/phys dmg first?
If thats an overkill Ill use Seal of Resonance instead of Coldstone.
(I have the yeti from HoM in the build) Yes i am aware of those very fast MadQueen kill builds, just trying to make a working cold summoner ritualist
