Phantasmal Blades Build Help - Kirei Kotomine and Kiritsugu Emiya

So, with the addition of the new Inquisitor mastery, it kinda reminded me about the Fate Japanese story series/manga/anime. By definition, the Inquisitors are very much akin to Kirei’s life before the Grail Wars as an Executor (heretic inquisitor, basically); however, their playstyle, coupled with that of the Demolitionist, seems more akin to Kiritsugu’s preferred killing methods (gun-toting hitman). Now I want to make some builds based on them.

A Phantasmal Blades Nightblade would be the perfect fit for Kirei and his Black Keys (magical throwing knives), and a great synergy for that both in damage type and playstyle matching the character’s magical circuits as well as his energy leeching nature would be the Arcanist. Therefore, I want to build a Spellbreaker that is focused solely (as much as possible) on Phantasmal Blades while still being game viable.

I’m usually pretty good at making decent builds, but I have been having some issues with this one. I checked the compendiums and found one variation, but it didn’t focus enough on the blades for my purpose, so I’m going from scratch.

Here is what I came up with.

I’ve never really put together something that doesn’t have a full mastery bar in at least one of the masteries, so my two issues are this:

  1. Am I gimping my attributes by not taking more points in the bar?
  2. Am I gimping my damage by not taking Star Pact (which would require reworking 26-37 points
[Bonus] Would something like this even be worth making?

Also, I’m not very good at devotions, as I’m still relatively new and the constellation map is quite large without an easy way for me to search the defensive stats, attributes, damage sources, and skills that I’d like to use, so any input on that would be awesome.

Finally, Kiritsugu will have to wait for the Inquisitor mastery, as that playstyle and skillset will fit his style perfectly, but I’m wondering if a Nightblade/Inquisitor combo (is that the Mage Hunter?) would fit Kirei better, meaning I should simply wait it out on both fronts.

TL;DR;Sans anime babbling: Is thisa good Phantasmal Blades skill setup? If not, what do you think I could change?

A total of 57 points in the mastery bars is probably not enough for level 85. I’d aim for 80+ points. On the other hand there is a pure Demolitionist build, but I think he compensates with equipment.

I doubt the Iskander’s Elemental Exchange line and Elemental Awakening will help you that much, due to the reduced weapon damage of Frenetic Throw. Likewise Star Pact won’t help you much. Instead you want to have Mental Alacrity.

For picking constallations I look up their stats on http://grimdawn.gamepedia.com/Constellation

Pre-nerf to the Warpfire weapon, you could run Warpfire to convert it to heavy fire, double Albertch’s Dualitys to convert the chaos to Aether, and run Reckless Power.

Logically, the new Decree of “I can’t remember this guy’s name” is probably actually BETTER for the build than Warpfire was, it just dedicates the build very heavily into Aether damage.

It’s a smidge out of date, but the basics of what you want for it are there. This was with more of a fire focus (because Warpfire meant you had massive cold > Fire conversion), but adjusting it to focus more on Aether shouldn’t hurt it too much at it’s core. IEE with Iskandra’s set, Decree.

Effectively, convert what you see here from fire > Aether in focus, and it should work pretty well. Thank goodness for the fact that most Arcanist gear that supports fire supports Aether right along with it, makes the worst of the gearing not that much harder.

Just a statement, Overload is crap. Don’t use it for any more than a 1 point wonder to take advantage of the massive quantity of +arcanist skills you’ll get.

Hihi, I actually watched Fate/Zero a few weeks ago. A friend who is heavily into anime recommended it as a great starting point for ppl new to anime. Holy shit, it looks gorgeous.

I was gonna present my setup in a separate thread once I get it tweaked enough so it can RELIABLY do Gladiator 150 (so far I’ve done it a few times, but I also died pre-100 a few times as well, not the best build for Crucible farming yet).

This is the setup I’m using.
Here is GrimCalc with constellations, but no item bonuses.

As you can see, It’s quite tanky for a caster, but lacks stun resist so I’m working on changing my setup to squeeze in Leathery hide and 10/10 Conversion without losing chaos resist and cast speed.

Also, I made a mistake when i put all 90 attribute poitns in physique. With 5 points in spirit, I would be able to equip Tome of Arcane Wastes without relying on augments/materials. It’s an old build, so nothing I can do now except start a new char.
