Physical Boi Tank / No MI - Can this work?

Hi there. I’m going to play through the game again with some friends. And I wanted to make a physical based tank. Since they are probably going to use curse of frailty themselves, or use aether damage, I opted for deathknight instead of witchblade, for the spectral binding/wrath.

The idea is to stack enough physical damage, attack speed and resist reduction to be able to use perma overguard, in combination with the heals from the medal. There is also a lot of shield stats stacked in there, and some higher resist caps and overcapping. The hope is he can tank basicly anything, maybe put on the 30% armor belt for ravager. I went for the reflected damage reduction stacking because I have low physical resist.

Because I had so many skillpoints left i could max blitz and fighting spirit, wich will make up for the low OA by reducing DA and giving an OA buff.

As rotation I wanted to use (overguard) blitz, warcry, doomforce and ground smash on the cooldown. (cadence as left click to keep deadly momentum up). For single target I could probably skip doomforce and ground smash and keep cadence going instead. Will the arcane spark cover me there?

For the devotions I was really at a loss, I ended up taking this route so I can get enough resistances without using green items(a choice). I regret not having any of the physical devotion procs, but then again I don’t know if they are any good, or if i can proc them reliably. I was also thinking of swapping nature’s guardian with stone form.

Random other question. Should i put extra block chance on the shield? Or get the extra block recovery to cap it? Not sure if capping it is worth it to be able to block every single random little thing, if that lowers the chance of blocking those big hits.

Any input would be appreciated.

In multiplayer it can work for sure, but it can still be improved. You can check out this build: http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67919. Has MI’s but all of those are replaceable. The devo setup and the skill distribution are the things you need to get from that build.

What don’t you think will work? It’s a phys WB build. It will do fine in any combo.

Tip: Don’t use MA and ZT wps. Having both animations will ruin your AS flow with cadence

Appreciate the link to the gladiator build. But the armor/block value is a bit low for what I am aiming for, and without those greens i really can’t get offensive devotions.

So is this wrong? Or am I reading it wrong?

Can I use just one of of them? I was hoping for the extra slow from ZT.
Are the Necro wps procs shit too?

The greens are needed for Gladiator 150-170

You can easily make things work w/o greens

I think i fixed the devotion setup. I tried to incorporate some of the suggestions from the gladiator build, but I just couldn’t get the crit chance and health/resists to make it work. So I went with fist of vire, light of empyrion and targo’s hammer instead. It’s a nice way to pick up some extra dps(and healing through adcth), while picking up good defensive nodes.

Also squeezed out some more OA.

Current link has enchanted earth instead of ugdenbog leather because i run with an occultist. But i’m wondering if the 90 defensive ability would serve me better then the 12% armor and health at this point.

I tested MA 13/12 + Cadence on training dummy myself, using DW phys cadence build. Kill time is identical with MA or without. But MA in fact shreds target DA => you deal crit => more damage. But this also means if time difference is none even with DA shred, you can safely drop MA. Or keep it to proc Mark of the Assassin or Blind Fury on crit.
ZT is pain, agree with this one.
