Please fix Lost Armament quest

After playing about a dozen characters I still get flabbergasted about the logic in the quest “Lost Armament”. Is it meant as a joke? The quest-giver literally tells us about the area where the cannons were lost: “The area is now covered in Aetherfire and it is far too dangerous to recover them.” So we are tasked with destroying the Herald of Flame so that the Black Legion can send some errand boys to retrieve the cannons from that area that is then still covered in Aetherfire.
And it is also not clear if we killed all Aetherials, as killing the Herald of Flame and marking the cannons is enough to finish the quest.

And as a guy who teleports whole parties (like with Ulgrim in Deadman’s Gulch) or heaps of strongboxes with weapons (Arming the Resistance quest) via Riftgate, now somehow paints a white cross on the cannons (marks them) instead of just teleporting all of them to Homestead, so that a group of poor errand boys that could before not go into the area due to all the Aetherfire can now carry all those cannons through still all that Aetherfire.

That makes absolutely no sense to me. I would hope that it would be fixed eventually, so that the cannos would be just teleported per riftgate to Homestead.
Thanks.

Huh? You select the cannons, return to Homestead and speak to the quest giver and the cannons magically appear on the battlements. Haven’t you noticed that happening?

Right, but how does that happen?
You have riftgates, they do not. So how are they making the cannons magically appear in Homestead?

The quest giver literally says that when the cannons are marked, he will send somebody to go fetch them. They just seem to appear magically in town, because we do not have an animation of groups of people starting off into the Conflagration to carry the cannons through all the Aetherfire.
If everybody and their mom had ways to magically transport stuff to the town without being a Taken, then the game would be much shorter.

It could be meant as a joke, but then at least for me, it is not obviously one the way it is now.

For instance:

" Quest-giver: “We need to retrieve the cannons, bhe area is overrun by aetherfire, nobody in their right mind dares to enter there.”

Character: “I could retrieve them by riftgate.”

Quest-giver: “Do not worry, one of my best men, “Frightened Fred” is regularily in the area picking daisies. I will just tell him to bring an extra bag on his next trip to carry the cannons home. You just need to mark them, as he does not know how cannons look like.” "

would be something that I would detect as a joke.

It would also be great if I could fix my typos and missing words here without having to delete my reply all the time, thanks.

^Thanks, but for me there is no pencil, just a link symbol, a bookmark flag, a trash can and a reply button.

new user limitation (anti bot spam prevention effect), gotta wait a day or two

Colonel, the way i “see” it, lore wise, Herald is responsible for the aetherfire, so we kill it, aetherfire goes away (same with immolation)
Gameism just means that doesnt’ actually happen to our maps, since we replay the areas etc it just didn’t get made to reset over and over each kill etc whatever engine, design, mechanic excuse we can think of
in world we can make it fit with the Herald death tho
