Please help. Huge Rift problem

Please help me. I am stuck in the steps of torment. I entered a door with the skeleton key and now my rift portal i gone!!! I have tons of gear and no possibility to get it back to town and sell it. I tried working around this for 2 days now, and cannot exit the game before i solve this problem or i will lose alot of gear.

I have no clue why my personal rift gate suddenly went dead, but this is very, very frustrating. Please help me!!!

It’s intentional, you can’t use personal rift portals inside rogue dungeons. It even says you can’t feel your rift’s presence (or something like that) when you enter a rogue dungeon.

Ok, i missed that. Too bad, until now the game has been a pure 10/10, but this pretty much changed that. Hate it when you get stupid restrictions thown at you, just to force you into making frustrating decisions like this. What a shame!

Well, anyway. Thanks for letting me know. Quit the game. Going to bed…

You realize that is an OPTIONAL dungeon, yes? You could simply NEVER go there and still enjoy the entire rest of the game. There’s exactly THREE of those areas, all of them optional. Just don’t go there.

Empty your inventory before entering, only pick up green and better, problem solved. Whatever you need to leave behind that way does not amount to much anyway, so no loss long term (aka 60 minutes later)

Well, of course you’re right. Just felt annoying since i spent a vast amount of time figuring out what to do. The game is really great, and i guess i’ll get back at playing it anytime soon. Thanks for the replies.

I hate the “roguelike” dungeons as well and the fact that to finish all the quests in the game you are forced into them doesn’t sit well with me if I am honest. It is a little hardcore for me and if I wanted to play hardcore I would. In terms of going in there in normal, if you are well geared and you have good resists to the damage types in there it is usually fine. Can’t comment on elite or ultimate but I am not looking forward to it with my squishy character. It isn’t just the sealed dungeons that you can’t use your rift in either, also something that annoyed me in my softcore game.

Well, if you really want to keep that stuff, you can use GD Stash to store it. As the game continuously saves the char, you can open it in the tool, copy all the items over (do not save your char in the tool) and then drop them in game.

A fix would be to allow players to sell stuff to the special vendors in Steps of Torment and Bastion of Chaos, and add a special vendor to Port Valbury.

It would satisfy players who like to pick up and sell everything.

There’s no “forced into them” here. The rogue dungeons are all optional as Nssheepster said. You can finish the game without doing any of them. Yes, they are quests, but it’s like saying I can’t finish the game because I chose Kymon’s instead of the Order and now can’t do the Order’s quests. You have to make choices. And I say this as someone who’s yet to successfully tackle any of the optional rogue dungeons. I think it’s a bit unfair that two of them are tied to the Outcast faction making it more difficult to gain rep with her, but there are other ways to do so if you want access to the stuff she has on offer. I’ll have the occasional try at tackling a rogue, but mostly I just leave them alone and do everything else.

Bosses’ areas too can’t have riftgates and yes, that’s the way it should be. Put a riftgate down outside their areas if you need one (something I often forget). But yes, there’s not going to be an easy escape route for you once you’re in there. This is GRIM Dawn after all.

Could you use the move option in the stash or is it only possible to copy when the tool’s open and you’re playing the game?

Valbury has its own vendor, just like BoC and SoT. But yes, just remember to empty your inventory before going in. In SoT, you can even rift out just before going through the gates (possibly just as well for PV, don’t remember).

I don’t go into the rogue dungeons in normal/veteran except to unlock their shrines. I don’t like wasting skeleton keys at that level (usually I’m lvl 43-45 when I’m done with normal/vet)

@medea Do you feel gaining rep with outcast is difficult? Once you sided with her, killing aetherial/c’thonian nets you outcast rep. I’m usually long done with outcast rep before I’m done with Legion rep.

I was trying to not give spoilers so let me put it another way. If I want to complete the game and get all the shrines and complete all the quests there are at least two areas that are not the sealed dungeons where I am forced to go where I can’t drop rifts. Also I didn’t say to finish the game I was forced into them. I said to finish all the quests as I am personally a completionist and like to get the most out of every game I play. You are correct though if you don’t want to finish all the quests and get all the shrines you don’t have to go into areas where you can’t use rifts.

Correct me if I am wrong but is there also not a higher chance for good loot to drop in the sealed dungeons? Also are there not legendaries that can drop from dungeon bosses? I am still working through elite so not mentioning specifics about gear is desired but I assume, possibly incorrectly, that just as some monsters drop monster infrequents, some sealed dungeon bosses have the chance to drop some kind of boss infrequent legendary or epic item? I should clarify that I am certain there are boss epics that drop from these bosses but not sure about the legendaries? If neither of those things is true and setting aside the particular quest line and completionism, what is the point of going into those areas?

You could drop all the items you’d want to sell later on the ground before entering the dungeon, and then just pick them up when you’ve finished/died in the roguelike.

All roads lead to rome!

There are some MI legendaries dropping from the final bosses of the area, the mob density is much higher than in comparable non-roguelike dungeons, and the levels of the mobs is a tad higher than usual. This might result in more quantity of loot, but not neccesarily better loot. The point of going in these areas is a higher challenge and some achievements, great lore, incredible design and a great addition to the game.

I assume he’s talking about stuff he’s picked up in the dungeon so no, that won’t work.

that you cannot sell to them is intentional, so you do not run back and forth all the time to sell items for next to no money…

Since you are playing the char at the time, any change to its savefile will not register in game at the very least, and possibly cause issues (probably won’t but since the change is lost anyway, there is no point risking it). So no, do not move them, copy them and then drop them in game.
