Hello malawiglenn,
thank you for your feedback! I rearranged the devotions and the skill points according tp your suggestions. Now the build looks like this.
you can also trade the yellow in crossroad for a third note in compass that gives 3% more physical resists, will perhaps not do that much for you considering you have pretty decent physical resist already
The reason why you’re struggling so hard in the crucible is predominantly due to your items which unfortunately you can’t do much about till you farm up a decent item pool.
I personally don’t like doing a DW ranged cadence tactician because you’re split between phys and pierce damage. I could be wrong here, but I feel that such a path is quite item dependent. I say this because a large portion of your DPS is reliant on a %WD skill (i.e. cadence) which you have neither the weapon damage or +skills to support adequately.
What I would do:
-
Farm an ugdenbog bolt thrower (see the GT link below). Suffixes don’t quite matter, just find an appropriate one.
-
Siphon points into seal and arcane empowerment. They are too good to give up. Especially with the belt you have.

P.S. Made some changes to the devotions you’ve got going on. I’m really torn between the OA from chariot, or getting blades of wrath. You can bind the latter in seal and have 16 projectiles shotgun an enemy standing on top of it.
Just saw your updated post. I wonder if such a build will do well if only because you lack the necessary resist reduction for your 4 damage types. 4.
o_O
Focus on one and stick to it. It’s easier to pile up %bonus damage and resists reduction.
Seems to me you’re deadset on aura of conviction, which can most efficiently be used by pierce builds. cough cough ugdenbog bolt thrower
You need points in death sentence as well (which I had completely forgot to add in my previous post).
@malawiglenn
Thank you! For now, I will stick with the health and see how it fares
@sir spankalot
You now mean the DW version? I will farm the weapon and try out the seal to see how it fares. What do you think of the elemental version with the shield?
This current setup: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/4VxYxJpZ
It uses 4 damage types - 3x elemental + pierce.
If you mouse over the weapon attack line in the second tab of your GT link, you can see the breakdown of your damage.
As you can see, you do approximately 33% cold, 33% fire and lightning, and 33% phys and pierce, and the only RR you have is the flat 32 from crown.
Typically, you want at least 100 resist reduction.
And focusing on 1 damage type makes it a lot easier to achieve this.
EDIT: This is a long fucking read, but well worth it. It’ll explain the how-to of theory crafting.
Ah, I see!
Thank you for the link, I will give it a read!
But 70% of my pierce damage is converted to elemental/cold and 25% of my physical damage to elemental as well. And Cadence is being transmuted.
As far as I can see, I also have RR from the Viper devotion and Aura of Censure, or do I read the latter wrong? I thought that would focus enough.
For this build, I was inspired by this one, which is similar.
the RR from Viper is not stackable http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?p=251347#post251347
Cadance is every third hit: normal attack, normal attack, cadande, normal attack, normal attack, cadance, …
Crap. You’re right. My squinty asian eyes will be the death of me one day.
Thanks malawiglenn, I didn’t know that. Does Aura of Censure also reduce enemy resistances as it says -% elemental resisantce. Or does this apply to the player?
To enemies, it’s like Night’s Chill.
Thank you all very much for your feedback!
I know that I can be annoying, but I thought of another build. Well, I basically tried to copy veretragna’s Gwynevere and replace the equipment I don’t have or cannot craft.
So, this would be now my version of the build. Could it work or is there a major flaw? The only real negatives I see are the skills due to lack of points and the health.
markovian don’t work with forcewave since forcewave is not a default attack replacer
You can ditch Blitz (keep it at minumum but maintain Blindside high for DA shred) and max Military conditioning
Very well then. Now it looks like this. Looking good in my eyes, I will try it and see how it fares.
My reasoning for another try was that I tried the Ugdenbog Boltthrower with Inquisitor seal today and it somehow felt much worse and clunkier despite around 90k DPS without any temporary buffs.
I would do this https://www.grimtools.com/calc/4ZDL0zwZ
are you gonna use Forcewave on your left mouse button you need to use force move, which I do not seem to get used to
And if you bind devotions to skills that are not up all the time, I don’t think devotion can’t activate when skill is not up. Like Natures guardian on Menhirs will. No idea why the original build are doing this. You can bind it to word of revnewal which I think you will have up all the time
Yes, with your skill distribution I have more OA and DA. The original build uses Blitz as a nuke skill.
What is “force move”? Never heard of it.
Good call on the devotions, I haven’t thought of that
Thank you!
But the original build have more skill points to play with.
If you want to move but accidently left click on a monster, ranged chars in particular will attack. I think the default force move button is space. If you push the force move button you do not attack when left clicking. I guess it is just me, but I have hard time playing ranged chars in GD with left click as attack skill
I think your distribution might be better
Thank you very much for your help, malawiglenn! I will report how I fare with this.
it should work just fine, I have a forcewaver that is just killing it even with basic gear. But I have to watch out for those reflective guys, I melted two times today in crucible so almost out of tributes now LOL
Good to know! Right now, I’m just trying to farm enough Ugdenbloom for crafting
