Please help me optimize my character!

Hello everyone!

I would like some help on the optimization of my character
Have a look, please: GrimTools
I attached a screenshot showing my character in Ultimate with only permanent buffs active, as GrimTools didn’t display everything correctly.

So far, I have just reached Ultimate with only one death in Elite - Grava’Thul somehow one-shot me out of full health.
I used Stupid Dragon’s Beginner’s Ranged Tactitian as a rough guide for my first character but didn’t follow it through, as I wanted to experience the rest of the game for myself.

So far, I have the following problems:

  1. I can farm the Crucible 100-150 or 130-150 with extra spawns and no buffs and banners on Aspirant with almost no difficulties, yet I struggle a lot in 150-170 even with multiple banners and no extra spawns.
I really wonder how people here claim to farm Gladiator 150-170 - it seems impossible to me.

  2. I reached wave 100 on Challenger with no problems but after that it becomes a tough struggle, which surprises me. I thought I balanced both my offensive and defensive side well.

  3. Even heroes in Ultimate are though! Is my DPS really too low? Or do I need to respec my skills and devotions, essentially my playstyle?

  4. I’m struggling to find the weapon “Mythical Havoc”. In Crucible Aspirant, the legendaries tend to be Level 94. Is there a way to efficiently farm lower level legendaries?

Thanks so much in advance for all your input and ideas!

Greetings from Germany!
Nymes91

Don’t you want the Manticore constellation for even more resistance reductions?

I can’t see the attached screenshot

A few points into Fightning Spirit can give you some more OA

Have you thought about Rune of Hagarrd (1 point) and Biting cold (more points) to reduce monster DA?

4 points into Huntress instead of Assassin should give you more OA

Just farm more. There’s still a lot that your char needs to be even 150 glad viable. you’ll need cadence points, that’s first priority. Also, get some points out from ranged expertise to max war cry. Helps you not get killed on challenger. Havoc does drop at max level tho you won’t see much of it cause level 94 items will have a higher chance to drop.

Browse your stash to see if you got warborn set. The shoulders should be goodndps gain, even the non mythical if you have it. Or fleshwarped pauldrons.

I have a similar question. What is the best way to farm as much as it is possible? I mean I want to farm a lot and now I am thinking how to do it well

I come here from bns where I buy bns gold https://www.sellersandfriends.com/blade-and-soul/na/gold because I want to have good gear very fast. Then I was able to do hard things in game and have profit for that. Now I get little bit bored about Blade and Soul so why I am thinking about new game.

In OP’s case since he can farm aspirant so there’s that. Dunno if that’s much better than roguelikes though. Been a while since I ran aspirant.

There are basically a few tiers of farming. Starting fron nothing, you farm some campaign spots like Cronley or Twin falls (the most popular). Then once you get some items, go to roguelikes/aspirant 100-150. Then challenger 150, then gladiator 150 is the best place for legendary farming. Glad 170 is then the last portion but has worse legendary drops than 150 but (according to some people) have better greens.

Thank you all for your feedback!
First of all, I added the screenshot in my original post.
Then, I have some questions:
Why is the manticore constellation good? It just gives me Poison & Acid Damage.
And why do you value OA so much? Because of critical hits? Is this more valuable than DPS?

Sadly, I do not have a single piece of the Warborn Set. Therefore I will farm more
I found the blueprint for the relic Doom and crafted it, so there’s that
My character now looks like this: Here

Manticore doesn’t just give acid/poison damage, it also gives offensive ability and acid resistance. You’re taking it for the ability, though, which reduces enemy resistances. Resistance reduction is arguably one of the most important stats in Grim Dawn, so if you can’t get it elsewhere, a lot of people choose to get it from Manticore.

I see… so is it worth it before Challenger Crucible and above? What should I replace for it?

You don’t have enough skills to bind your devos to, Assassin’s Mark is unbound and that will make your DPS fall off a cliff. Pick up Storm Spread and bind Living Shadow to it (it only needs to proc every 6 seconds) and put mark on Cadence.

Personally I’d drop Chariot and Lion to take Jackal and Manticore but you are going to need something to proc Manticore then as well, Storm Box or Word of Pain are good at proccing Acid Spray.

Thank you, Memitim - I will try that and see how I fare.

Hello everyone!
I am thinking about changing my build, as my current character struggles with the Ultimate content. It could beat the Loghorrean, but I cannot even touch the Mad Queen and Alkamos also almost killed me. When I meet a Nemesis, I can only beat them with many, many deaths in the process. I also cannot progress past wave 150 in Crucible (Aspirant) without the use of the tribute buffs.
I am also farming a lot, but seem to have bad luck :frowning:

As I have recently found the complete Luminari set, I wondered if I could build a ranged Elemental Tactitian around it. This here is what I came up with: GrimTools
Please note that I have only used gear that I have or could craft! The only things missing for me are some Ugdenblooms for crafting and the mythical version of the belt.
Before I commit to this change, what do you guys think? Could this new build work and perform better?

These are questions for your first char, the dual wielding Tactician. Why no Inquisitor seal? have you read this guide? http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67346

Hi Nymes,

I haven’t played elemental tactician much, but I have a pierce tactician that I’ve really enjoyed. It might be worth keeping your current idea of a pierce gunner instead of switching to elemental.

That said, let’s look at the build. I noticed you have one point too many in inquisitor’s seal, so I would recommend removing that and putting it into deadly aim for increased crits. You could also consider harp as a constellation to pick up. Your health is too low in my opinion, that’s probably my biggest concern with this build. You will likely die to end game content without a few thousand more health. The 14.8k total on your current character is more appropriate for a lvl 100 character to my eyes than being down below 10k on the new one.

If you’d like a copy of my Tactician’s GT, I can post it for you, but the gear will not match up well, and it has a couple green items that will be quite difficult to attain.

Yes, I have read it. I just couldn’t squeeze the seal in as I lack many skill points as I lack the weapons. And I also think that my belt and my chest armor is better. I think I lose too much DPS when I go for the seal, but maybe like this?
I will have to try this out.
Is the other version any good?

Hello Halcyon,
thank you very much for your feedback! I didn’t notice the skill point and I will try to squeeze the harp in
I would be very much interested in your build - please post it

His current incarnation is https://www.grimtools.com/calc/aZqKQop2 but if you don’t like word of pain you can drop it for more fighting spirit. Obviously different from your guy in that he’s a 2handed gunner rather than a dual wielder, but the core idea is to convert elemental damage to pierce with the rings and belt just like yours does with the same belt

Wow, this build is something else! Did you find all these incredible green items by yourself? I have exactly just the belt

edit: BTW, I was very much inspired by this build, who is also very low on health but uses a Purifier.

Sadly no, I generated 3 of the greens using grim dawn stash. I have farmed so many greens in my thousand+ hours I figure I’m justified  The iron maiden shoulders, wendigo eye medal, and the solael pants are the non-legit ones. The boots and gloves and the legendaries are legit.

I haven’t tried a pierce purifier but theoretically this same build that I am using as a tactician could be a purifier as well since fire strike would get converted to piercing just as easily.

Ah, I see  But still very impressive!

I don’t want to use a Purifier, I was just inspired by this build
First of all, I should give Inquisitor Seal a try, then I will se if I change to another concept of ranged Tactitian.

edit: Maybe this version could work out.

Do you take Decorated soldier 8/8 for the slow resist?
If that is the case, I would remove one of the last nodes on the blind sage and leviathan and go for the second node on Sailor compass for basically the same effect, but freeing up some skill points that could go into War Cry (dmg reduction) or Storm Box/Biting cold/Markovian for DA shred (or just put it all in to deadly aim)

Having devotions procs on WPS means that you have that chance on attack when the WPS is activated. Say Whirpool 30% on Chilling rounds that has 20% on attack. So Whirpool is proced at likelyhood about 1/15 attacks. Now Whirlpool has 3 second recharge, perhaps binding it to inquisotor seal will give it almost 100% uptime.
