Please no Grim Dawn 2

Zantai was working on something GD related some years ago, but it didn’t work out.

We have an established IP that people love, that we love to work on, with much more story left to tell in it, why in the world would abandon it to start over?

You had mentioned Titan Quest in the other thread as an example of a superior setting, and to me mythology is as generic as things get as far as source material is concerned. Doesn’t mean good games can’t come out of that material. God of War is one of my favorite game series, after all.

Because you are a company and being creative is part of it to explore, right, whether the IP is popular or not Zantai? Like FF for example. If Crate makes another ARPG not Grim Dawn related might just be a good thing in the end.

I understand the popularity of the game, I’ve been playing Grim Dawn since it became public available, does not mean i dislike the game or a potential Grim Dawn 2. I was just giving my opinion, which is subjective same as yours.

And FF is another genre. Our survival game will be another IP as well. The RTS will actually also be Grim Dawn-themed because we ultimately decided the setting is ripe for a strategy game (at one point we discussed everything from Arthurian legend to something new entirely).

But making another ARPG to compete with ourselves and effectively cancel out a decade of work developing the lore and setting of Grim Dawn makes, uh, objectively no sense.

I respect your company’s decision Zantai

Grim Dawn is one of the best overall game worlds IMHO. Titanquest was great, but mythology is easy and already done a million times. Grim Dawn is it’s own world with unlimited possibilites.

I’m with the others, why abandon a known world with potential to go anywhere to simply start over?

I am REALLY looking forward to GD2…MOAR!!!

And why in the world when someone has a different viewpoint then you do you feel they are being toxic? People are allowed to have differing opinions.

Dude, i wanna go to the Aetherial homeworld and fight them there. Can’t have that if the sequel changes lore and setting.

Much as I want the same, I think it’s been made relatively clear that the Aetherial home is more of a thoughtscape, and is hence not exactly something that a physical being can enter/fight in.

That ain’t stopping me, i’m fighting those bums there.

I did not say in any shape or form Grim Dawn 2 is bad, why make such assumption towards me, and continue to do so over again.

There is nothing wrong when you own a company and you expand upon it whether with your current or new products. It’s like you have this company selling chips for many years and now you going to just add a different label to it and call it 2.0, then someone say, no, add salt and vinegar to it then the company say why in the world do we want to change that?

Well, it’s call growth, expand, creativity and reaching out to not doing the exact same theme over and over again, especially if you are a developer.

Agree or not, i don’t care this is my opinion, a valid one too, because it’s my opinion, just like you feel your opinion is valid.

Grim Dawn has one of the more original settings and stories in argps, it would indeed be foolish to abandon it.

With arpgs being so focused on endgame, the grind and hunt for loot and various gameplay mechanisms (combat itself, progression, customization…) and due to the fact that in many arpgs the story seems to be an afterthought, I think we often do not appreciate enough just how good Grim Dawn’s story is.

What I hope for is as much content situated in Cairn as possible. For that, I welcome the RTS, and I hope there will be other games set in this universe. E.g. while I’m looking forward to the Grim Dawn 2 proper, I think other games would also be a nice addition. E.g. an over the shoulder action RPG , Dark Souls style, would fit great in GD universe (but perhaps not as punishing as Dark Souls).

Not only games, but other products would be nice. For example, graphic novels or animated movies exploring the world in more detail. An encyclopedia containing basic elements of history, factions and technology would also be a fantastic idea…

No one is making assumptions. Everyone is entitled to their opinion so long as they’re given in a civil and respectful manner.

You guys want Grim Dawn 2, but what if Crate drops the nuke on you all and make it like No Rest for the Wicked xd

I’m respectful no harm intended thanks

Imagine Crate doesn’t go forward on Grim Dawn 2 because one person didn’t want it

Companies would never make such a decision based on one person. Unless that person is the owner of the company. Can’t see Medierra changing his mind unless GD2 turns out to be so bad that he feels they need to cancel or go back to the drawing board for it.

I believe many more would love if Crate makes a ARPG not Grim Dawn based, i mean, who wouldn’t? Probably you’d love it too but too stubborn to say it xd

Like i said, i respect their choice I’m moving on from it, besides, there are other ARPG to keep me busy not just this game

Would be amazing oh goodness!

Nothing to do with stubborness; you’re making assumptions.

I’m happy to try anything Crate makes - even if I’m not particularly good at playing that genre. I just hope I live long enough to experience the current ones in production and GD2 in a few years’ time. I ain’t getting any younger sadly.
