This is my first time going through this skeleton key dungeon on Ultimate difficulty. I’m able to complete this same dungeon on Elite difficulty. My first attempt failed when my skeleton key failed to open the dungeon. My skeleton key was consumed but the gate to the dungeon never opened. It reset immediately and said I completed my one attempt and needed to reset the game to try again.
So after resetting the game and fighting my way back to the Port Varbury skeleton key dungeon, the gate opened this time. I fight my way to the final boss and kill him. However like I reported in my original bug report on version 1,2.0.3, after killing the final boss, I received no reward chests nor did a portal open for me to leave the dungeon. I had to leave the game in order to leave the dungeon.
So going into the Port Varbury skeleton key dungeon ended up being a net negative for me. I had to use two skeleton keys to access the dungeon and received no rewards for completing the dungeon.
Just to be clear, I have completed this skeleton dungeon a couple of times prior just at a lower difficulty. This the first time I’ve completed it on Ultimate.
There was nothing after killing the boss. No obelisk or reward chests. There was no path to the exit point as shown on the map. I was stranded with no means of exiting the dungeon unless I decided to kill myself standing on a patch of aether or simply exiting the game.
This isn’t the first time I’ve encountered this bug. I thought it was fixed in the last patch as I’ve had no issues with any skeleton dungeons playing on Elite. I’ve only done one other skeleton dungeon on Ultimate, Steps of Torment, and I was able to exit that dungeon normally.
I’ll run the skeleton key dungeon again later tonight and take a screenshot of what I see after the final boss fight if it happens again. I’ll post a follow up either way.
Ok I ran the Port Varbury skeleton key dungeon again with the same results. I took screenshots of the boss area to show that nothing spawned after killing the boss. I had to kill myself to exit the dungeon.
Thank you! I remember now that there is another level to this skeleton key dungeon. I know why I’m constantly thinking why the boss I killed is the final dungeon boss. In every other skeleton dungeon, the final boss area has a barrier you need to open before you fight him. This boss is also gated for some reason which always makes me believe that this is the final boss fight.
Lastly I can never see the opening to the next level as I play GD as a Diablo-like fixed camera, isometric ARPG and never rotate the camera. Because of this, I can never see the door to the next level as its view is blocked unless I rotate the camera. Only in this dungeon is not rotating the camera becomes an issue.
It’s because the boss on this level is gated as well the next level entry is blocked from the default camera angle, I keep thinking that I completed the dungeon after killing the boss. Thank you and Z for helping me correct my misunderstanding.
