Portals in town

Please disable this…Nothing worse then opening a portal to go back to town and accidentally pressing “L” while in town. Got some walking to do…again.

Disable key binding?

Then has to enable again when out of town. Can’t really see why you’d manage to hit L while you’re in town anyway, but then maybe I’m just used to it after so many years of playing. :undecided:

Or click icon to open portal.

This is a stupid, childish request. I’ve never hit L once (didn’t know it mapped to the portal) with ~240 hrs of play time…and all you have to do is remap to a different button.

it takes you maybe a minute to get back to where you were from the nearest rift, so hardly worth the effort of preventing it.

I like to create a portal right next to the stash most of the time, screw walking to the actual rift.

Why do you want to take away my convenience? :stuck_out_tongue:

You really shouldn’t be able to do this no matter how you look at it.

No you should, why shouldn’t you? You’re the first to complain about this and because you have a habit of pressing the bind by accident. Other than that, plenty of people including me have spent hundreds of hours doing it that it’s going to feel jarring to have it removed.

As mentioned already, you can just unbind the key and use the portal icon beneath your energy bar and next to your skill selection bar or bind it to something else that you won’t press by accident.

Uh, no. I constantly rift from either the stash npc or the illusionist npc and having to go back to the town portal to just rift to another area when i’m near those npcs would be obnoxious.

I just came to this game from POE and not being able to make portals in town makes 100% sense. This is to prevent people from running into the same exact thing that I just did. If you cant understand that, sry. Just my opinion.

nonsense, there is no reason why you should not be able to. Why should I be forced to walk to the town portal ?

no it doesn’t, regardless of what PoE did

This is to prevent people from running into the same exact thing that I just did.

big deal, so you portal to the next rift and walk for 30 seconds - and next time simply do not press a key you apparently did not want to press, a much easier solution to your ‘problem’.

I understand it perfectly and have definitely done it from time to time, which is very frustrating. It’d also be a very simple fix, ultimately, as painting areas to disallow portal usage is pretty quick and easy.

That said, I think the benefits outweight the cons significantly. If I spawn in at Homestead or Fort Ikon, it’s a long walk from the spawn point to the rift at those locations. I’ve definitely saved more time over my GD lifetime by porting from town to wherever I’m going than I’ve lost by accidentally overwriting a portal out in the overworld.

It’s something you get used to, especially if you stop using (and unassign) L from creating a portal and instead only rift from place to place via the map screen.

I see more advantages then disadvantages with having portal access in towns. It allows you to complete an area, go to town and deliver a quest or craft/stash then immediately portal else where.

In PoE, towns are shared by many people, so to prevent issues, they restrict portal use in town. GD is not PoE. It’s not an online game with a lot of people in every town at once.
