Pre-order Support

We actually tried that as well but they said we had to be a 501c charitable organization to accept donations through them. Yeah, I know, I’ve seen dozens of sites that accept donations through PayPal that aren’t 501c charities, go figure… :undecided:

Did they pay you interest for 6 (or more) months?

No and frankly, I was half expecting they’d charge us an additional fee for “storing” our money. :stuck_out_tongue:

I emailed Paypal about this, here is what I sent them, “'How can I prepay for a game from Crate
Entertainment that hasn’t been released yet and is still in Alpha/Beta
stage, but I would like to prepay for it so that the funds I pay them
can be used to finish the game off, call it a sort of donation if you
will. Any help is most appreciated” and this is the response I got back from Paypal if it’s of any help, "Dear Lee Bishop,

Thank you for contacting PayPal.

In order for you to send out a donation for a game from Crate
Entertainment, please contact the web developer/merchant directly and
ask if they have PayPal as a payment option for accepting donations. If
they are, please ask them to send you a PayPal money request or invoice
for you to send your donation." it seems that they might not have an issue with donations instead of prepaid.

that is interesting, as I though Crate entertainments paypal account was frozen? and I haven’t got back a reply from paypal over what I emailed them.

This is a boilerplate reply that they send to anyone who asks the question “How can I donate to X?”
Unfortunately, they didn’t look at the actual status of the account to provide you with this reply.

As Medierra mentioned above, our account was “frozen” for 6 months. For anyone not completely sure, frozen means they prevent you from withdrawing any of your funds during that period. That money is essentially taken by PayPal to use as they wish until they release it to you when the 6 months are up. They can do this because they are not a bank (at least not in the US) and therefore don’t have to follow banking rules.

Our account is now “closed” and we are banned from ever doing business with PayPal. I’d rate the chances of actually getting a relevant comment on that as a third party as slim to none.

It really sucks when you are trying to do something different from how it is usually done — which is hard enough in business anyway – and then on top of that the largest online payment provider won’t even work with you despite the fact that you have done nothing but act in good faith to provide a product people want.

yeah that is what I figured  still there might still be hope if many email paypal over this, but I’m having doubts, but it still worth a try, especially if many write in, who knows?

PayPal is well known for randomly freezing accounts.
I think Notch (Minecraft) was a victim as well. They froze his PayPal with something like 30.000$ I think. Dunno if he even got the money back from them.

Edit: Duh medierra already wrote that…

Hm, Adopt a Grim Dawn Developer Program. With each donation of ____ you get a signed picture of the game developer you’ve helped sponsor eating/paying rent/sleeping at his desk, … okay, if Sally Struthers comes on board here I’m going to seriously upload the lemon aid game I used to play on my Apple IIC.

Geez, brain is going in all sorts of money making areas but I’m suddenly thinking it’s not a good idea to try to pimp out a couple of already hard working, underappreciated, talented, free-working people who probably alraedy have the feeling that they’ve got a whip lashing their back.

I have just bought the Legendary Offer!!

Now I just wonder how Notch (Minecraft) was able to sell his game through paypal even before it was alpha.
Or even during alpha. (which I bought)

Just wondering whether his trick will work the same here?

Hello…
Just wondering what I’m actually supposed to receive when the order is placed.
I received an order confirmation e-mail from [email protected] but there was no key that I could identify. This was a week ago. I didn’t receive a separate e-mail with a key.
I did the resend key link in the first post, this morning, and I haven’t received a new e-mail, yet.
Spam was checked this morning and this evening.
JJ

doubleJ, I’d suggest you check if your credit card was actually charged. Apart from that:

Please emails us at [email protected] and I’ll be happy to help.

We periodically have people who don’t receive their keys, which we believe is a result of their email services rejecting the Amazon Cloud elastic IP that our automated emailer uses. In such a case, the email is killed before it even reaches the spam box. We can easily track down people’s keys though in our log and send them out manually.

Quite possibly (although I may be mistaken) because he has been releasing unfinished builds the whole time pay-pal figured that those purchasing the game were getting ‘something’ for their money, as opposed to a chance of nothing. also the discount offered may also have something to do with it. ie you’ll get the access to every thing that I make but it is not guaranteed that it will be finished.

Hello,

I don’t really stress about it, but I ordered a Legendary Game the March 6th, and without any key incoming, sent an email the 9th. And still no news.

I’m not really in hurry, unless you planned to launch the game next week :stuck_out_tongue: but I’d be relieved if I had key warmly hidden in my socket’s drawer.

[post=29259]Delay appears to be due to heath issues.[/post]

Oh, I didn’t see.

Sorry.

EDIT got it today. Thank you !

Thank you state tax refund for allowing me to purchase the Legendary Edition!

Ok, I’m a little pissed off:

Some months ago, I ordered a legendary copy of Grim Dawn, and had printed a copy of the emails for the keys and receipt. Since that time, however, the system I had used for that purpose has been destroyed (got a trojan and a worm that ate my system down to the hardware/mobo).

So I came back to the site to try to get the keys resent, and 48 hrs later, no email has been delivered, even though the site said it sent one. When I tried to log in, I got an invalid response, so I clicked on the “forgot my username/login” link, and got the same result, which was NO email was ever delivered.

But here’s the kicker: I went to go ahead and register another username/login for my backup email so I’d be able to post on the forums, and on a hunch, I tried the only 6 possible usernames I EVER use in the username slot, and lo and behold, every single ONE of them were available! Which means that SOME how, my account was deleted. I found the hard copy of the keys I printed out on my old system, but it really ticks me off that my accounts simply GONE with no explanation.

I hope I’m not screwed out of the $48 I spent.
