Out of curiosity - do you guys tend to have an endgame layout in mind when developing your city from the start, do you place things organically as the need arises and keep shifting buildings around, some combo?
Also curious if there are organization and planning tips for both productivity but aesthetics.
I personally find i enjoy city building games the most when i try to “roleplay” a little and not try to build to an optimal efficiency or from a set layout but i also always run into the problem of my late game requiring major redesigns as logistical issues etc begin to snowball
I started planning according to the drawing from the start of the game. Of course there will be some constructions that need to change their position to suit the conditions but the scale is very small.

Mostly organic layouts. For housing I dont bother with roads other than to connect to other ‘towns’ or manufacturing/farming/storage. I usually plan around food, keeping forests for deer, utilizing the best nearby fertile areas for farms, arboretums and such.
I like to insert small planned ‘factories’, like iron mine → foundry → blacksmith with extra storage right next to them, sometimes putting a fence around it to make it seem more industrial/organized. I also avoid hyper land manipulation like fully flattening out mountains.
