For a Pet-based Shaman, how does Scales of Ulcama behave when bound to Primal Bond? It’s hard to suss out exactly what is happening. It’s not an aura, it’s a buff that gets applied to you, but it also has a pet bonus with flat damage. Will pets cause it to trigger, and if so, will it scale from their damage and heal them?
Edit: Feel free to move this to Maya’s megathread if it belongs there…
when bound to primal bond only you get the buff and will buff all allies within 15M including pets.
if bound to pets it will proc when that pet get hits with 20% chance on hit, whether multiple instances of the same pet can stack the buff is dependent on one variable of the skills itself in one of its fields in the construction tool set, my guess would be it is a unique instance and does not stack on multiple instances of the same pet.
devotions bound to pets scale with their % damage from skill rank and % damage from pet bonuses via loot/devotions.
pets that scale with player bonuses i am unsure of, shaman has none of those however.
It can’t be bound to active abilities, only Mogdrogen’s Pact, Primal Bond or passives from my items.
chance on hit is when you get hit, chance on attack is when you hit the enemies.
no chance on hit devotion can be bound to an active skills, only aura type buffs.
Ok, so that answers the question. Since the player carries the buff and not the pet, if the player doesn’t get hit it never procs. For Mog’s Pact which is an aura extended to pets, if the pet gets hit then in theory it procs. Thanks for helping me reason that out.
Scales or any other x% chance when hit proc won’t ever be triggered by a pet (unfortunately as this could open up a lot of interesting ideas/synergies).
Since it only applies to buffs to your character via devotion binds, it will only trigger off of attacks made to you and only your character receives the health and energy leech.
