Having lots of fun with this build haven’t maxed it out yet but at max level going for this spec. I was originally using DW pistol with Storm spread but found the proc chance too low as was pairing with Hand of Ultos so decided to make a two handed Primal strike build. Currently level 60. Insane lightning damage and good mobility. Haven’t added items yet (other than the bow and relic I intend to use) but take a look. Would you guys change anything about this build? Be it devotions or skills or stat distribution. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks for looking.
I’ve also been thinking about exactly this build, but I’m split between Savagery (in which case you can get Storm Spread) and Primal Strike, so keep in mind I don’t have any actual experience with this build.
That said, however, note that Ultos and Viper don’t stack: Ultos will just override Viper. I would also put points into the attack speed nodes in Kraken, rather than the movement speed node (i’m not sure what I’d pull to get another point for the other attack speed node, it looks like you don’t have any easily freeable points). If possible, I’d see if I could get Elemental Storm and Aether Bomb, which both provide rr that stacks with Ultos. (You can drop a point into grasping vines, and use grasping vines to trigger at least one of them, I’d put Aether Bomb on Primal Strike.)
I’m not entirely clear on why you have put so many points into Rune of Hagarrad. I assume for the debuffs and chance to freeze, but I think it’s probably not worth it for that? If you pull points from it, you can max Arcane Empowerment, which will give you a bit of flat elemental damage and a pile of crit damage.
I’d also at least consider switching Aura of Conviction for Aura of Censure. -30% rr is just really, really good.
I’m not entirely clear on why you have Storm Totem: it’s kinda underwhelming, especially without a large investment of skill points into it.
Also, note that the Wind Devil/Reckless Tempest trick doesn’t work any more: the cooldown of the devotions was made global (I believe) in a recent update.
Reall appreciate the reply man. This is my first post on here. Ah do you think I should drop tempest all together? Yeah I was considering going 2 points into kraken attack speed as I’m using slow two hander. I was torn between aura of conviction and stormcallers pact. I went with aura for physical resist. Im finding rune to be really handy with the freeze I personally just think the spell animation is brilliant haha. My main is a witchblade that is really fun and easy to play so a bit new to a caster build. I think the proc chance on storm spread should be upped by at least 5 %. How can you tell if rr stack?
I believe the canonical rr explanation link is here: http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?p=251347#post251347
This should also explain which rr sources stack with which others. (In a recent patch, though, Raging Tempest was changed to -x% resist reduction, making it stack with everything.)
I’m not sure about Reckless Tempest: with Primal Strike, it’s pretty tricky, because it provides no defensive bonuses (in comparison to Savagery), so you want to keep good defensive constellations. However, if you drop all your defensive constellations, you can get Reckless Tempest, Elemental Storm, Hand of Ultos, and Aether Bomb. Here’s an example of how you could get it: http://www.grimtools.com/calc/8NKQe88V
I too am also doing this build. I opted for turtle first in devotion and moving on to reaper next. Thinking full Wind devil instead of any runes. Dont want to spread points around too much.
