Projectiles on (seemingly) multi-projectiles skills

Unfortunate side effect, the main goal was the target area size :joy:

For what it’s worth, I just beat mogdrogen 2.0 on ascendant with the templar I posted above. So if it’s weaker, it only shows on paper.

0.5 meter target area? I’m reminded of the bugged grobles way back in Alpha that would drop all the rocks in a pin-point area and blow you up.

i tried to do something silly, and no matter which way i flipped it kept ending up generic  - even when submitting to full stormfang and doing projectile prefix with 2h(kraken idea) or shield first, still ended up with caster offhand in the end  Evoker, Level 100 (GD 1.3.0.8) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator - ā€œcan’t handle mixed conversionā€ ocd
-i really hate that increased area penalty ontop the tdm tho :unamused:

If I was a gambler, I would place money on those Magic quality Ascended affixes getting nerfed hard after all the broken builds have shown up lately using them. 4 projectiles is fun (with the penalty), but 6 projectiles is insane for Deva…

kinda funny, because i was questioning whether to replace behemoth with levi after feeling decently chonky, initially, then almost had a rip in sr 31  - decided to keep behemoth (tho should mebe try just once without suppose)

also i really don’t hope projectiles to devas get nerfed. flat dmg affixes sure, but not projectiles. The itemization and modifiers for devas are so limited and conflicting it’s hardly bringing devastation builds into abundance nor forefront of broken stuff

Honestly, I don’t think those are the things to nerf. The point of ascended affixes on normal items was to give normal items an actual reason to be used in endgame. There are a lot of other things that probably could be nerfed here (like Berserker getting free TDM), but honestly, if the damage gets hit, that’s alright. The reason why it could do this harder content is really because Grim Dawn is going the route of modern arpgs and killing face tanking but rewarding kiting while dpsing. If I lose some dps, that just means I lose some time on the kills, but fundamentally, modern Grim Dawn design will always enable builds like this to do this content.

I agree with your point as a whole here, but I do think those ascended mods are a bit too much.

Outside of those affixes, the only 2 ways to get an extra projectile on devastation are to wear one of the sets that gives that (an entire set bonus) … or a conduit that also gives it -TDM and widens the AoE … If there was at least a single other piece of gear that adds a projectile to devastation, we would have seen it used by now.

IMO, the mod should be tones down. I think it should disapear from 1h items, and the equivalent on 2-h weapons should go from 2 projectiles to 1

you’re looking at it wrong, the issue isn’t 2 projectile potential on a base common slot occupation
The issue is general devas itemization suuuucks, Devastation , and has for ages, and is why there has only ā€œeverā€ been 1-2 devas builds made and rest were either meme or disregarded entirely. (meta wise/ā€œtop or endgameā€)
Can even see what it takes to make cold devas work decently, +projt; and a combo skill/mod to insanely reset cd/guarantee 100% uptime on top. Otherwise it’s just gonna keep being relegated to the ā€œguttersā€ as a skill or meme tier
