Why o why do you get punished so hard for dying in this game ?
Depends on what you mean. Are you playing hardcore or soft? Hardcore has always been tough, it’s meant to be. That’s why it’s called hardcore. If you’re playing softcore then you lose some XP, but that’s all.
That depends, what part do you consider punishing?
Off the top of my head, the consequences for dying are:
- Loss of experience (can be reclaimed via a tombstone).
- During Elite/Ultimate, Bosses regain a portion/all of their health.
I’d say both of these are pretty fair personally.
The exception is hardcore where death is the end for your character.
I don’t think there’s any punishment for dying. If you die, monsters heal up, not a big deal if you know what you’re doing (also you won’t die too at this point), tombstones give back your exp, but even though it is not that hard to get exp. I sometimes didn’t even bother picking up the tombstones when I played for the first time.
Are you serious? GD is one of the least punishing game in terms of death. You don’t lose gold, you lose a negligible amount of exp that stops mattering once you reach max level and the boss regaining health is not that impactful until Ultimate. These damn millenials and their complains about games being too punishing!
I too lambaste a generation any chance I get, even while lacking evidence for doing so.
Softcore and Hardcore are two extremes. The former is far too forgiving and the latter too punishing (but fine).
That’s why i’m a pussy and play Semi-Hardcore, where i play Softcore but can only die once. This way i can still keep the gear i spent so much time farming.
I agree. The worst that can happen in soft-core is that you can lose an entire level of progress, but that requires you to repeatedly die – probably to the same target. This occurred to me once while being killed over and over by The Sentinel. But it really isn’t that big of a deal as there are plenty of available experience points to make up for any kill-walls encountered.
I wouldn’t say it was punishing; rather, I’d say it was signaling something to the player.
Yep. Please, please, punish me for dying.
This game is lesser punishers of the genre. Only punishment you get is when you forget to open portal ( or do not have rift close) in your death area before you die
