Pure Summoner Necromancer

Don’t worry, all the pets attack, even more so with using the pet attack command

Very easy as a pure Necro to have 10+ summons by level 40

Edit… To expand on the Pet Attack command, extremely handy for both combat and movement (I’ve got Move To on LMB and Pet Attack on RMB), when left to their own devices and your summons encounter a group of mobs they will each attack the nearest mob to them, but if you hold down Pet Attack on a single mob (hero/boss etc) then every single summon will attack that one mob at once ignoring everything else.

For movement so that I don’t have the problem of being the squishy summoner in front and my army behind me, I click ahead with Pet Attack to get the summons running then I click Move To the same spot and while my char is running there I repeat the pet attack ahead and move to… and this keeps the summons running along in front of me, not the other way round.

Forget about Necro/shaman pet build, maybe just for a little of fun

Items are 90% better for Necro/Occultist

Sad

u didnt see the item with +1 to summon briathorn? and the jewerly with ”generate more threat for briathorn”?

shaman can be a contender for occultist to combine with necro

Yeah, it’s a conjurer set… nothing to necromancer

Pet Shoulders with health, Aether and Chaos resist. The DREAM item right there.

I wonder would the aura’s from 2 Hellhounds stack?

post them necro build ideas

I haven’t played Grim Dawn in ages - but this expansion has me coming back and i’m looking to do a summoner build.

Here is one i’ve theory crafted. Not sure if it is good or not but thought I would share anyways.

Good luck out there!

Here is my work in progress build on pure necro summoner.
Lots of pet +dmg and resists+hp for survivability.
Imho this is very close to d2 necro decrepify summoner

I’d highly recommend at least experimenting with http://www.grimtools.com/db/items/7727 if you are going to belt up with Voidmancer.

I know I am going to try it out.

Gonna play something like this. Build in progress:

Nothing fancy, just want to try new things. May be will respec in Bonds of Bysmiel, Spectral Binding or Hellfire/Storm Spirit later. And I am not sure how good is Reap Spirit. Will see.

Doxy, Im also working on something similar.
I see you picked Mogdrogen the Wolf for those juicy dmg bonuses.
Im no expert at all but personally I was thinking of going the opposite way and pick Ishtak the Spring Maiden for the hp bonuses for the necro himself + the defensive bonuses for pets.
Wouldnt that be viable for better survival on ultimate?
What about the procs on the Dying God final point, seem good for some crowd control aswell?
Im not asking this to discuss your choice btw, just because im a bit lost when it comes to such choices.

Current experiment goal.

Fire/Vitality flat damage pet spam.
9 Skeletons with Flame Torrent
6 Swarmlings with plenty of flat damage and decent RR (-91 with a 20% reduction after)
Aura support from Hellhound and Eldritch Fire
Aura support from Familiar
Blight Fiend makes a great Manticore proc bot (that big AoE seems to proc on poison ticks as well as initial blast)
Plenty of health and resists plus the health regen (Giant’s Blood helps a lot) to use Dying God freely. Call of the Grave (with +100 OA and +300% vit damage buff) fills in downtime nicely.
+skills is really useful since this build is so point hungry
Ectoplasms are just placeholder’s for now (bit concerned about mana regen at higher levels freaking Reap Spirit is 326 mana per cast just from +skills)

As I am leveling I noticed that the confuse from the Blight Fiend AoE was seriously useful especially to stop packs from just charging straight as me. So am experimenting with Aetherfire for confuse spam. Also cuts down on the damage my pets take as well.

Overall pretty happy at the moment. In elite Act 3 and with some really crappy self found gear (no legs mainly rare gear and rep gear +450% pet damage) and cruising along nicely.

Greetings, summoners and your spooky boys.

This is my Necromancer. His name is Natosh.

53 level so far.

Doing pretty good with my build I posted above. Only instead of Reap Spirit I picked Ill Omen (for proc) because 10 pets is enough on Veteran and begining of Elite.

Veteran was so easy that I became too cocky and died 5 times in the first two locations of the expansion rushing content without upgraiding my items/resists and tanking mobs. But when you slow down you back to steam rolling content

Gonna try this: http://www.grimtools.com/calc/0V0AKnXZ

which devotion binds would you put where?

Does the acid spray devotion bind attach to blight fiend attaks or is it just a chance to proc when you summon it?

Chance on attack.

Not only does it proc on attack when it does that big Blight Burst skill the 5 sec poison DoT afterward seems to be able to proc Acid spray as well.

I plan something like this. Curently at lvl 18

All the gear is what I found in rush on database and will probably change in real live progress.

Necro and ocultist synergies pretty well it seems.

If you’re going for a build with a solid mix of defense and offense, I would go with Necromancer and Soldier.

Soldier has a lot of good passives, sword and board is great for defense, cadence is nice, and the field command is a useful buff.
