I know it’s just a couple of days to find out by myself, but I’m too curious for my own good!
Play testers, does the xpac have (purely) atmospheric areas like TQIT’s Passage of Souls or the Tower of Judgement?
Or looking down below from the tops of Mount Arreat in D2:LoD.
Edge of Reality is a good one already…
That you’re just looking around and marvel about the scenery…
If you are willing to accept my biased opinion, I find the whole scenery of the expansion to be very atmospheric. And yes, Crate made vista points here and there. Some are obvious, others not so.
GD certainly lack atmospheric areas, here am hoping that the expac will finally address that! Blood Grove going to Dark vale seems nice but we need moar! More blood, more dead bodies on the floor, but no tentacles please . The final boss area must be full of horror and agony and pain!. From the looks of it, we might get a scene or two of intense atmospheric pressure…
Blood Grove looks very nice indeed. I like some other areas in the present game as well, but here’s me hoping that they will bring in just this little extra with the xpac.
I always quite liked that little view over New Harbor you get on your way to the Old Arkovia rift. Sure, it’s not exactly the most breathtaking vista ever, but it’s still nice to look at as I pass by.
Exactly, I know what you mean. They provide a figurative and literal depth to the game and have quite an appeal.
For the same reason I like the way you can look down in Darkvale Gate when you cross bridges and the likes, and the crater in Fort Ikon. Just walking around it to see how far you can look into it.
Well, the devs have been quite clear the we reveal nothing of the end.
I hope you are surprised by being surprised again.
OT: I play on full zoom and still noticed some of these huge areas off the travel-able path. One in particular made me want to open it in the editor and just check out all the stuff they put on the map that you can only see from a distance in game.
The first area of the expac is my personal favorite and as far as atmosphere and tone they nailed it. It will be interesting to see what everyone’s favorites will be after release.
We are not surprised Chthon. Something tells me that there is some bias involved with that choice but I can’t quite put my finger on why that is. Hmmm
stop denying! pretty sure you were blown away by how atmosperically awesome the last boss arena was added the fight itself…
My personal favorite is the sewers, love its dark ambience. and those color spitting aetherials… to see them first time and with the rainbow colors of projectiles…man what a sight to behold…
