Been Googling/searching this forum a bit and was just wondering if anyone could lend a quick hand on attributes for a Pyromancer?
So far I’ve pumped Physique and haven’t put anything into the other two. Is this a bad move? A few people have said to place points only into spirit and cunning if you want to use certain items. Does anyone have a bit of a guide in their mind of how they have been levelling up with it? Say 3 levels put it into Physique then 1 into spirit and 1 into cunning after then physique again or something similar? I’m afraid I’ll get to max level and I will have only pumped Physique?
I only ask as I don’t have time these days (the joys of getting older) to just play through the game with 50 different characters to learn it all.
I am playing a Pyromancer right now, and am putting most points into Physique, with a few into Cunning. One strategy I’ve heard to recommend is to hold back on several points and save them for a future need. This way they are available for whatever attribute you need them for in the latter part of your build.
What is your pyromancer doing? For guns you may need some cunning, how much depends on the guns you will use and their requirements. It may be anywhere from 3 points and upwards, not much for magic damage unique guns but still alot for common rares. Pyromancer is probably not doing physical or pierce damage as main, so you don’t need cunning outside of that, but spirit improves your magic damage.
If you are a caster, you need spirit for caster armor, weapons and off-hands, up to 700+, which might even require you going 1 : 1 physique : spirit, depending on how much you spend into masteries bars and your gear/devotion. You will also need spirit for mana regen.
Sounds like a great idea holding some attribute points back. I think I’ll do that in the long term.
Build wise I have been reading about some builds that people have been doing while also just having a think about how I would like to play the game. I was thinking it would be fun to play with guns for ranged attacks and use summoned creatures as well. Sort of like a necromancer back in D2 crossed with an Amazon. From what your saying it might split my attribute points a bit too much as I can see that I’ll need points in all 3?
You need to spend most points in Physique because Demo and Occultist lack any defensive CD and are still on the squishy side.
Also, Pyro needs to have both masteries maxed to survive and deal damage ( Possession, Brimstone and/or Hellfire Mines are must have ) and you’ll get most of the Spirit you need by doing so and also from gear and devotion.
I’ve spent 55 points in Physique, 9 points in Cunning ( that was not needed and I could have spent them in Physique ) and 23 in Spirit on my Pyro build.
Thanks so much for this advice, it’s really good. How do you go with using guns without putting too much into Cunning? I’ve found some really good weapons however I’m stuck using a lower level one due to my lack of cunning to use some of the rifles etc… I’ve found (using a set pistol at the moment).
The Hawk constellation is your friend. I think it would have allowed me to equip my Exterminus without spending any points in cunning. 2-handers require more than pistols, 522 being the maximum Cunning requirement ( which becomes 470 with Hawk ), so something like 7-8 points should be enough.
I’ve put 1 point into cunning since we spoke just to bump it up so I can use an epic two hander. I won’t go overboard with spirit and cunning as advised. I actually respecced into using Fire Strike a lot more which has made Veteran so much easier (before I tried using a mix of different skills) with the aim of getting Brimstone.
i really depends. Cunning is only important if you are going with a phys build for pyro. This is an option but there are much greater damage probabilities if you go into Elemental Damage and chaos.
Personall i am planning something close to 1/1 pys/spirit.
i just got my pyromancer to 85 and ended up going 54 phys, 18 cunning, and 15 spirit. i wish i would’ve put more in to spirit since i have a fire/chaos build.
