QoL Berserker / Double Manual Cursing

Berserker will add a self buff skill called Rallying Cry that lasts 60 seconds similar to Blood of Dreeg/Pneumatic Burst.
It will also add a debuff skill called Bonechilling Cry similar to Curse of Frailty/Devouring Swarm.

I have toyed around with the Grim Dawn Build Calculator a little bit to see what other classes go hand in hand with Berserker. I also took some inspiration of some of the new (leaked) items that are showcased in a RektbyProtoss YouTube video.

I came to the conclusion that many class combos that include berserker will feel somewhat “annoying” to play.

Berserker + Occultist will have 2 Curses and 2 self buffs that you have to constantly refresh.
Berserker + Demo will have 2 Curses and the self buffs (Chaos Build)
Berserker + Shaman will have 2 Curses and the self buff (Bleed Build)
Berserker + Inquis will have 2 Curses and 2 self buffs (Pierce)
…

You get the idea. Sure there are already some builds here and there that have more than 1 RR curse or require you to maintain 2 self buffs at a time, but they already feel bad to play IN MY OPINION. Berserker makes this even worse.

Is there still the Option to change Bonechilling Cry into an Aura much like Veil of Shadow or Aura of Censure?

LOL! You apparently don’t understand how the system works here.

You can combine any specializations, but you just need to choose 1-2 active skills to base your build around.

I am combined Bers + Outhkeeper with Vair Might.

You did Not understand my post.

To a lesser extent, this is already the case with infiltrator or deceiver builds, which do feel a little tedious to play
The suggestion is a solution, but making it automatic is basically getting free damage at the cost of a few points, it’s too much

True. But You can always adjust the values to make it not op.

These already exist.

Chaos inquisitor + occultist is an example.

Not saying I don’t agree. It can be somewhat difficult/annoying or whatever to keep pushing this many buttons over and over. I tend to avoid these types of builds. Although pet builds are less of an issue as you are basically just buffing/debuffing.

I use the medals that extend stuff like word of renewal to 120s a lot to escape this problem because of personal issues. Wish the 120s was baseline but oh wells.

I don’t really see the point in these self buffs being temporary anyway. I get that they heal, but it’s just annoying 99% of the time and the other 1% if the time you actually die because you forgot to cast it in time :stuck_out_tongue:

I was about to make a post here, but the more I was typing, the more there were if that or if that or if that …

Like having 2 skills to buff/debuff… ABB + Curse of Frailty is not as bad as ABB + Thermites Mines
But usually 3 skills that buff/defuff is usually too much for me unless the 3rd is a heal… the main reason is because it breaks the gameplay loop of a build as if you never really attack you just buff/debuff and then buff/defuff and then you attack. I also ends up feeling like a piano build

Having two heals is quite often a bit much considering the other buff/debuff

Overall that’s something that can be though about when doing Grim Dawn 2.

Can the Berserker Bonechilling Cry skill be changed right now that late in the developpement ? Maybe
But at least the skill has a good duration (12 secondes) and has a decent range (10 meters at the soft cap)

To be fair Grim Dawn has a crazy amount of build diversity.
If you like simple builds these combo will most likely be better for you

  • Berserker + Shaman unless bleed damage as melee
  • Berserker + Oathkeeper
  • Berserker + Soldier
  • Berserker + Arcanist

I saw a certain Fire Strike 2 Hander that converts Fire Strike damage into Chaos damage. Thats when I noticed that you would have to use both Thermite mines and the debuff cry. Was immidiatly turned of by that. Was kinda the kickstarter for that post.

nono, other 1% is you died because the thing was on CD because you just spam it always anyways.

Yep, that also happens. I’d much prefer if it was a permanent buff and a separate heal.

I don’t mind the double rr casts that much myself. You can even get three if you get one from a relic as well :stuck_out_tongue: At that point it does become a little unwieldy, but in general I don’t mind to click a few buttons to play the game. I’m not that lazy. The buffs though don’t really feel useful to click, so they’re annoying.

Especially since we got no-heal buffs like Mog Pact and Field Command and similar stuff totally passive.

It’s not about laziness, but rather about how smooth is a build to play or how it feels to play a build
