QoL changes I would love to see added in FoA

Hello,
with the expansion approaching there’s a couple things I’d love to see in game.

Automated crafting for complex components: If I want to craft an endgame component, like Ancient Armor Plate or a relic, the game should retroactively check if I have the components to craft each piece and do it in one click.

At Lvl 100 Quests grant their XP in Iron: An incentive to complete every quest at max level, it would also aid in the economy of the game by providing a more direct way to farm currency. Devs would have to choose what ratio would fit, I think a 0.3 Iron per 1 XP would be OK.

Common and Magic items have a purpose: This one is tricky because maybe it would take some major revamping of game systems. IDK. But currently, common items stop being useful around lvl 5 and magic items around lvl 30, then they serve no purpose because they are not even efficient to be sold. I’m sure someone has thought of something clever; personally I would add an option in the Blacksmiths to ‘upgrade’ an item to the next tier and have it roll certain affixes more likely due to it’s base.

Option to increase chests/lootable corpses visibility: I feel this one is likely an intended design choice but I find them very difficult to see, specially in areas that are dark/have a cold color palette. I think adding an option to increase the glow significantly would be very nice.

Level beyond 100 with no rewards: finally, I know there’s an intentional design limit to the power of each character capped at Level 100, I would like to be able to continue levelling WITHOUT gaining any more attribute/skill points or any other tangible benefit beyond cosmetic. It would simply act as a badge of honor for being commited to a character/would be a nice curio to have. Maybe make it opt in so if a player decided to take this route they would have to look for it, but nothing would change for everyone else.

That’s it! Looking forward to the release of FoA. Recently been streaming some TQ AE and really loving Ragnarok setting.

This has been requested many times over the years. Might not be possible without re-programming the whole crafting system from scratch, but I do hope Crate will look into this. Even this late in game development there is a chance for it to happen as there have been many changes to the game engine in the past, even just recently with the new FoA shapeshifting mechanics.

I don’t think that’s a good idea. Even after reaching level 100 you will need additional XP to max out your devotion skills. Maybe after each devo skill is at max rank, but I’m not sure if there is a way for the game to detect this, as you can always respec your devotions and level up another skill.

Are you talking about the light blue glow that is applied when hovering the cursor over the loot object? I think it’s fine as it is, but I can see the concern for people with impaired eyesight so making the color a bit stronger to have better contrast with the surroundings would be nice I guess.

If I understand you correctly, you just want the level number to go up, but nothing else? Like some sort of bragging rights? I can see the appeal, I installed a mod for another game where 100 is max level but you still gain XP, and the mod lets me see my “actual” level beyond 100. Which has no other purpose than telling other players “I’ve been no-lifing this game so hard, I’m already level 327 haha”.
I don’t think that’s worth any development time, and also probably against Crate’s philosophy of “finishing” characters.

edit: forgot to adress this point:

Fangs of Asterkarn will feature affix transmutation which lets you reroll magic items too, so they will probably become much more valuable. I’m not entirely sure how that will work but I think you can get some info about it from last year’s Grim Misadventure threads.

Just so you know. There is a kill counter on page 3 iirc

Hi! About Visiblity I mostly mean the passive glow without mouseover. Chests have this soft glow that should help detecting them but I often miss them.

About byond lvl 100, yes! Just bragging rights and personal achivement, nothing else really. Like a cosmetic.

I didn’t know about the reroll system, sounds amazing! FoA wait just became better

I guess it serves the purpose, but would be so cool to have a lvl 200 character

i’m not entirely sure how much scaling they get
but monsters get passive increased scaling per level, but your items stay the same
so like monsters might have 4000 OA/DA at level 200, with 4x the dmg
but your char might not have enough stats to keep up since you’d only get some small passive OA/DA scaling tied to level. HP, dmg etc doesn’t passively maintain scaling for player levels (and i don’t know if the passive OA/DA is equal to enemies’)

(GT can’t set char 200, i don’t know if 1-100 scaling is comparative to char passive OA/DA scaling from 100-200, but either way the only part that do scale)

edit, seeing the armour rating increase seems like this would be ending for phys dmg builds
